Biografie[]

Eric Stoltz, geboren am 30. September 1961 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien, ist ein am Theater ausgebildeter Schauspieler und Produzent, der sowohl in Independent- als auch in Studiofilmen mitgewirkt hat. Eric wurde als Sohn zweier Lehrer in Los Angeles geboren und wuchs sowohl in Amerikanisch-Samoa als auch in Santa Barbara, Kalifornien, auf. Im Alter von 14 Jahren verdiente er sich Geld, indem er für die örtlichen Musiktheaterproduktionen Klavier spielte, darunter "Mame" mit Anthony Edwards in der Hauptrolle. Die beiden wurden Freunde und dann Zimmergenossen, als beide die University of Southern California besuchten. Als er sein Studium abbrach, schloss sich Eric einer Repertoiretruppe an, die 10 Stücke beim Edinburgh Festival in Schottland aufführte. 1981 zog er nach New York, wo er bei Stella Adler und Peggy Feury studierte und bald in seinem ersten Film, Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), auftrat. In den 1980er Jahren erlangte er Aufmerksamkeit (und eine Golden-Globe-Nominierung) mit der Rolle des Rocky Dennis in Mask (1985) und in John Hughes' Some Kind of Wonderful (1987). 1988 gab er sein Broadway-Debüt in Our Town (1989) (TV), für das er für einen Tony Award nominiert wurde.
