Hijo de James Daly y Hope Newell, hermano de Tyne Daly y tío de Kathryne Dora Brown . Tiene dos hijos con su esposa Amy Van Nostrand, uno de los cuales es Sam Daly , y asistió y se graduó en el Bennington College.
