Full Summary[]
Dean and Diane are setting up for the Crisis One training. He's nervous, which she says is normal. Beckett comes in and Dean is surprised that they know each other from the academy. They tease each other and she thanks him for hosting the training.
Andy cleans her turnout gear. She tells Theo she's not looking forward to going to 19 for the training. Aquino comes and tells them it's time to go as Maddox drinks the last of his cereal out of the bowl and then puts the bowl in his locker. Andy tells him he's disgusting, but he thinks she likes him.
Jack asks Ben about Joey's college applications. He doesn't really know as Bailey's helping him with them. Their conversation is interrupted by Ingrid Saunders, who has brought the blueprints to rebuild her store. She wants to make sure everything is up to code and wants him to take a look. He agrees to take the plans and takes her card to call her. Once she's gone, Jack says Ben has a badge bunny, which Ben denies. Dean comes by and tells them to get changed because 23 is on their way.
Travis pours Vic some coffee and tells her she forgot to get a new battery for the smoke alarm. He says he texted to remind her while she was at the store. She says he didn't and Emmett confirms that he didn't. Travis gets a text from his dad, saying he's going on a trip to San Diego with Kyle and asking Travis to look in on his mother. Dean tells them 23 is almost there, so they need to get to the barn. Travis gets another text saying Nari thinks it's a conference. He wants Travis to cover for him.
Maya finds Sullivan reading on his phone and tells him you're not supposed to read your own press. He says it's actually from the divorce lawyer, but she's already been put in the middle of that enough. Dean tells them 23 is almost there. Sullivan didn't know they were coming, even though Dean sent out a text.
They enter the barn, where all the firefighters from 23 have taken their seats on the same side, leaving the other side open for 19. Maddox pretends to fawn over Sullivan the Fire Zaddy. Beckett quiets them, saying he wants to be done by dinner. Diane introduces herself and states the goals for the day. They need to start with some role play, so she invites Andy and Sullivan up to get them started, unaware of the tension between them.
Diane introduces the scenario and explains their role as responders. Andy and Sullivan are playing a married couple. The wife has locked the husband out and is throwing his things outside. Sullivan gets into the scenario and Andy does as well. Diane starts to intervene as they're expected to. Their role play starts to get personal, but it's interrupted when the klaxons sound. Maya calls Sullivan to join her on the call. Once he's gone, Diane calls Beckett to replace him, but Theo steps up to volunteer, saving Andy and Beckett. Theo immediately gets into it. Vic interrupts and says the scenarios seem like harmful stereotypes to her, so Diane calls her up to play the responder. This quickly devolves into Theo and Vic flirting, to Diane's frustration. Dean suggests that he can do the groupings.
Sullivan and Maya knock on the door where they're responding. Patricia comes around the side of the house and leads them to the back, where Tony is hanging out of the doggy door. He's upset that she called 911 because he said he could figure it out. Patricia then leads Sullivan to go inside while Maya assesses Tony. He says he's hungover and doesn't remember cutting himself, though there's blood on his shirt. Sullivan then arrives on the other side of the door. Tony had tingling in his arm when he first woke up, but can't feel anything now because he's cut off the circulation. Sullivan cuts the flap off and calls to Maya to get started with the tools.
Dean thinks the firefighters aren't taking it seriously, but Diane says it's just growing pains. Diane's confident they'll all get there. Dean calls up Jack and Maddox for the next scenario. They're co-workers and Maddox has locked himself in the conference room. Dean will be the responder. Maddox gets himself psyched up and then gives a dramatic performance. Dena thinks he's not taking it seriously, but Diane says it's often hard to tell if someone's on drugs or mentally ill or both. Dean starts to use his own experience to connect with Maddox. Diane calls for them to take a break. Aquino tells his team to pull it together as he doesn't want to have to come back. Dean's frustrated at the lack of progress, but Diane reassures him again.
Travis tells Emmett he's not going to cover for his dad with his mom. He wonders if he should just tell his mom as it's obvious his dad isn't going to. If he were in an hetero affair, Travis wouldn't think twice about telling his mom. Emmett reminds him that it's not that simple. Vic and Theo walk in. Vic asks him about the name he used during the role play. She was his first girlfriend, who was crazy. Like spent two months in the psych ward crazy. Travis remembers another girlfriend of his who also spent time in the psych ward. He has a type.
As Patricia questions Tony about how he ended up in the doggy door, Maya removes the doggy door, but finds the frame was just decorative. The dog died five years ago and he won't let her get a new one. The next step is to re-position Tony for removal. As Sullivan puts supports in place under Tony, Tony says he and his wife actually used to like each other. Maya and Sullivan try to rotate Tony to free him, but it doesn't work. They'll have to cut the door. Patricia asks Tony if he's going to pay for a new one. Patricia's glad now that they didn't have kids. She tells Maya when they first got married, they agreed they didn't want them. Then she changed her mind, but didn't tell him until it was too late because he's a drunk and not father material. He thinks if she told him, he could have turned it around. Tony explains to Tony that she didn't tell him until last year, when she had cancer and had her reproductive organs removed. Maya starts to cut the door around Tony. Once it's out, They're able to pull Tony free and see that he has a cut on his chest from a bottle opener. Maya calls for an aid car while Patricia panics.
Andy's on the roof when Jack joins her with a sandwich. He asks how she's doing at 23. She says she's surviving, but it's not the same. Other than her not being there and dealing with Beckett, 19 is good as well. Andy steals Jack's sandwich and asks him how the team is doing with Sullivan. Jack tells Andy what she did to Sullivan was messed up. She doesn't agree. Jack says even Maya will say she got demoted for defying McCallister. He asks if she's talked to Maya about it lately. Jack says she's finding excuses to cut and run. She did it with Jack and Ryan and now with Sullivan. Sullivan's like her dad and she's like her mom. When Jack says that, Andy leaves.
Ben is down on the ground, talking to Aquino, who is in a near-fetal position. Ben connects with him over how they cope with hard days. It works and Aquino gets up with him. Diane says they did great and points out the things Ben did correctly. Emmett, Travis, and Vic banter in the audience. Travis doesn't like Emmett and Vic ganging up on him. Just then, a call for Crisis One comes in. Dean goes to respond, but then decides to send Jack instead.
As they get Tony onto a gurney, Patricia tells him not to die. She thinks she should have told him when she changed her mind and given him a chance. He tells her no, it's better this way, because he tried to clean himself up for her and couldn't. They load him into the aid car.
Travis's dad FaceTimes him and asks what his text meant. He claims he's not asking Travis to cover for him, but Travis doesn't see any other way to take his messages. Travis is upset that he's still lying to Nari. He tells his dad he has to leave because he's in the middle of crisis prevention training and clearly has a lot more to learn.
Emmett, Vic, and Jack arrive at an out of service bus. The driver tells them there's a kid on the bus refusing to get off, but this is his last stop. He can't go back to the terminal with him on the bus. Vic peeks in and sees that the kid seems upset, but not crazy. The driver doesn't know him and when he tried to wake the kid, the kid freaked out. Vic sends Jack in. Jack goes in and learns that the kid is named Myles Anthony Trudeau. Myles has a cut on his hand, but pulls away and yells when Jack tries to check it out.
Maya reports to dispatch as she and Sullivan head back to the station. Maya asks if he thinks Carina will hate her like that if she never wants to have kids. Sullivan laughs and then explains that while she was thinking about her marriage, he was thinking about his. Maya says Andy's her best friend, but she knows no one outside a marriage can know what's going on inside it. She just wants Andy to be able to be happy again after two years of twisting herself up over Sullivan.
Myles explains that every Thursday, he goes to his friend Trevor's house, where Trevor's mom makes them enchiladas for dinner. He doesn't know where he is and he's supposed to be at Trevor's for dinner. Jack talks to him about how his routines are important to him. Myles explains his routine. His teachers told him his routines help occupy his mind. Jack says his teachers always expected to see him on the 5:00 news. Myles asks if he's a bad person, but Jack says he's not. He's a helper. He suggests that they clean up his hand and then drive him to Trevor's. When Myles rejects that, Jack says he can talk Myles through cleaning and bandaging the cut himself. Jack talks about being unhoused as a kid and how there was one teacher who helped him out a lot, by feeding him and not judging him. Myles says kids were mean to him too. They thought he was weird because he was different. Myles tells Jack the history of Dalmatians being firehouse dogs. Vic puts a medical bag inside the door and Jack starts to show Myles how to fix his hand.
The crisis intervention training continues.
Vic and Emmett manage the crowd outside the bus.
With his hand bandaged, Myles exists the bus, allowing the driver to leave. He goes with Jack to the aid car so they can drive him to Trevor's.
Dean and Diane clean up after the training and think it went well. Even Maddox and Barnes showed empathy by the end. They have trainings set up at three other stations as well. The program is a success. Dean tries to downplay his part, but Diane tells him to take the win.
Andy is looking at her father's memorial when Diane comes in. She heard about Andy's transfer and tells her standing up to McCallister with Maya was bold. Her father would be proud of her. Andy says Dean was always secretly her father's favorite. He'd be proud of what Dean is doing. Diane then asks Andy about Sullivan. Andy says Sullivan has the papers, but hasn't signed them. Andy tells Diane what Jack said. She knows he has a paint, but hates that. She left just like her mother left. Diane asks if she blames him for the transfer. Andy doesn't not blame him. Diane says Andy told her before that Sullivan made her feel electric. She knows she loves Sullivan. When you feel something so strong, it's usually because of unprocessed trauma from your past. Diane tells her to talk to someone about it. Most people don't go from electric to divorced in her experience.
The guys from 23 raid 19's fridge. Andy comes in and asks if they've seen Sullivan. Before she can go look for him in the gym, Beckett asks if she wants to hang out again. She says she doesn't, which upsets him.
In the day room, Vic asks Theo about his ex-girlfriends. He says he used to think all the drama and fights were love. But now he knows that's not what love is. Vic's the first person he's been with who gets him and just wants him to be happy. They fit. Vic says her past relationships were all so serious. She likes to make jokes. She doesn't take herself too seriously. Her exes weren't like that. Theo looks at her and tells her he loves her a lot. Then he leans in to kiss her. They pull apart when Dean comes in. They apologize and Dean goes through to the locker room.
In the locker room, Ben says he has a friend in Oakland who is trying to start a program like Crisis One. He gave her Dean's number because she needs someone who can help with the logistics. It might help him to get out of the drama with Vic and Theo.
Andy finds Sullivan on the catwalk and goes to talk to him. She's the first person who made him feel good after Claire. But he can't apologize for wanting to get his career back on track. He tells her he loves her but he can't be the only one fighting for them anymore. He has signed the papers and gives them to her. Andy is left shocked as he walks away.

Engine 19 was called to 3667 Egre Road. Maya and Sullivan took the call. When they arrived, they found Tony stuck in a dog door at his house. He was bleeding, but didn't remember becoming injured. He'd come home drunk the night before and tried to crawl in through the dog door because he forgot his key. He had slept on his arm, so he had no sensation there. Sullivan cut off the flap while Maya started removing the hardware. When she learned it was just decorative, she said they'd have to re-position him to remove him. Sullivan propped his head up and he and Maya tried to rotate his body, but they were unable to free him. Maya then cut out a portion of the surrounding door and freed him. Once he was freed, they found a large cut on his check from a bottle opener. Maya called for an aid car. They bandaged Tony's wound and sent him to the hospital.
Myles Anthony Trudeau[]
Crisis One was called out to a city bus. Jack and Vic responded to the call and found Myles on an otherwise empty city bus. The driver said he refused to get off the bus, which was at the end of its route. Jack entered the bus, where he saw that Myles' hand was cut. He refused to let Jack touch him to take care of it. Once he calmed down, Myles told Jack he was supposed to go to Trevor's for dinner, as Trevor's mom always made enchiladas on Thursdays, but he didn't know where he was. Jack shared his own experience in childhood and then suggested he show Myles how to clean and bandage his own hand. Myles agreed to that and once his hand was bandaged, they drove him to Trevor's house.
