Aaron is a police office who had PTSD after fatally shooting someone on the job.

History[]

Aaron was in a session with Sheldon. He talked about the incident that led him to therapy. He and his partner had been following a car after an armed robbery. The driver ran out of the car, so Aaron followed him. He cornered him. The man reached for his waistband, so Aaron shot him. He later found out the man was unarmed. He said he felt like he'd followed protocol. Sheldon, believing there was more to it, asked if he was sleeping. Aaron said he just wanted to get back to work. When Sheldon pressed, he said that he sometimes sees things on the job that he can't describe to his wife. Sheldon said Aaron could talk to him about it. Their session was interrupted by Joe Price, who said he needed to take Aaron home. Sheldon said Aaron wasn't ready to go back to work. Joe said he needed Sheldon to sign off on him returning to work because internal affairs was still investigating and Sheldon not signing off would be a red flag.

Sheldon went to Aaron's house and spoke to him and his wife, Sissy. They'd gotten threats because of what the papers were saying about the shooting. Sissy said the night before the shooting, Aaron had driven a kid from corner to corner to find his mom because she'd left him to find drugs.

Aaron and Sheldon spoke without Sissy and Sheldon said that he didn't believe Aaron was ready to go back to work. Without work, Aaron said, all he did was sit around and replay the night, seeing the perp's face over and over again. He admitted that he'd lied when he said the perp reached for his waistband. Aaron said he was just scared, so he fired.

Joe told Sheldon that Aaron had tried to quit. Sheldon said that he needed to keep seeing Aaron and wouldn't clear him until he was ready.

Sheldon went to Aaron's house and found him playing baseball with neighborhood kids. He didn't want to agree to keep seeing Sheldon, but Sheldon said that if he didn't sign off on Aaron's psych evaluation, it would be almost impossible to get back on the force. And if he signed off on Aaron returning to work, Aaron would still have to deal with the trauma, but all by himself.

Aaron went to internal affairs and told them the truth about what happened, potentially ending his career.
