Amelia's mother had cancer, but she was unaware of this. She came to the hospital with her mother and complained about the hospital food.
Later, her mother decided to give her all the advice she would have given her over the years all at once. Then she told her daughter that she was dying.

Aunt Sue[]
While her mother was hospitalized, she stayed with Aunt Sue, which she didn't like. According to Beatrice, Aunt Sue is lazy about personal hygiene, so she told Amelia she'd have to take the lead there.
