Austin Hayes is the youngest son of Cormac Hayes.
History[]
Mom's Illness and Death[]
Austin's mom developed cancer after a tumor in her uterus, believed to be a fibroid, was macerated, spreading the cancer cells throughout her body. She underwent treatment, including two clinical trials, but they were unsuccessful and she died. After she died, they gathered up her things from her hospital room and sat in the empty room together for a while before going home. ("Love of My Life")
Visiting the Hospital[]
Austin came to the hospital with his brother on a day when the schools were closed due to parent-teacher conferences. ("Save the Last Dance for Me")
Conference and Visiting his Aunt[]
Austin and his brother went along with their father to LA for a conference as their aunt lived there and it gave them the chance to visit her. ("Love of My Life")
COVID-19 Pandemic and Seattle Protests[]
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Irene moved to Seattle to help Cormac care for Austin and Liam. ("Breathe")
Following the death of George Floyd, Liam and Austin painted signs and went to the protests with their father. While they were protesting, one of the counter-protesters, a Nazi, came at one of them with a billy club. Cormac got between them and took a blow to the head, so they left to go to the hospital so he could be treated. Cormac then sent his sons home, barring them from attending any more protests. However, after a day of work and treating Nell Timms, Cormac went home and told his sons that he believed the work they were doing was important and they should be part of it, but only during the daytime and only while he was there. ("Sign O' the Times")
Panic Attacks[]
When Austin learned that Cormac was dating again, he began having panic attacks to the point where Cormac ended his relationship with Meredith. Despite this, the panic attacks continued, so Cormac sought out friendship with Bailey and her sons, so his sons would have other teens to spend time with. ("Here Comes the Sun")
Thanksgiving[]
Liam and Austin went to San Diego over Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with their aunt. ("Everyday Is a Holiday (With You)")
Return to Ireland[]
Austin moved back to Ireland with his father and brother. ("Living In a House Divided")
Relationships[]
Familial[]
His mother died two years prior to his move to Seattle.
