Hospital Shooting[]
Bill was at the hospital with his wife, Mary, who was supposed to be having surgery. When her surgery was delayed so she could get a blood transfusion, she asked Bill to go get her a pizza. While he was out getting a pizza, Gary Clark started shooting people in the hospital, so when he returned to the hospital, he was not allowed to enter as they were on lockdown. ("Sanctuary")
After Gary Clark killed himself, they hospital lockdown was lifted and Mary was able to leave, where she and Bill were reunited. ("Death and All His Friends")
Traveling[]
After the surgery, Mary and Bill decided to travel. They went to Paris, Morocco, Alaska, and a cruise through the Baltic. ("These Arms of Mine")
Mary's Surgery and Death[]
They later returned to the hospital so that Mary could have her surgery. Mary's surgery went perfectly, but she didn't wake up afterward. There were no obvious reasons why she was in a coma. After she became septic, Bill was given the option to turn off the machines. After three days, he took her off life support and she died. ("These Arms of Mine")
An autopsy also showed no reason for Mary's coma. ("That's Me Trying")
