“ | The human brain contains roughly one hundred billion neurons. Alone, these neurons would only allow us to retain about as much information as a flash drive. Fortunately for us, our neurons connect and combine, creating a web that exponentially increases the brain storage capacity. In fact, this process creates so much space that we can store the equivalent of three million hours of video content. So why can't we remember everything we try to commit to memory? Our brains are constantly adapting to the present moment. Our brains can override information we no longer use with newer, more relevant ideas. Our brains make these decisions for us, whether we like it or not. They help us hold on to the things that matter and make space for whatever the future may hold. | ” |

Short Summary[]
Owen and Teddy have the day off but encounter an injured civilian. Monica enlists Amelia's help with an operation on a young patient. The interns complete their procedure logs, allowing them back into the OR.
Full Summary[]
Benson rips a red sock that he fetches from the back of his drawer.
Teddy and Owen are out hiking in the woods. They appear to be on the wrong trail.
The interns quiz one another as they get coffee from the cart outside. A grumpy Taryn walks by and comments rounds start in five minutes, meaning no time for coffee. She yelled at Lucas yesterday for going to the bathroom. Jules suggests she's grumpy due to not getting laid. Amelia receives a text from Meredith about receiving more funds from Teddy. She struggles to find her wallet so Monica offers to pay for her. Once Monica has left with her almond croissant, Amelia confides in Winston that she found that odd of Monica.
Levi finds Jo pacing in front of Teddy's office. He's on her service today but she is preoccupied with the speech that she has been rehearsing all night to quit general surgery. He briefs her on her patients and she orders him to get to work.
Taryn pushes past the interns. Benson comments Mika that the break-up resulted in his having to do rectal till 11 last night. The group finds Bailey, to whom Simone hands over her completed procedure log. Taryn comments they were supposed to hand it in to her or Levi but she supposes there's no reason to start following the rules now. Bailey congratulates the interns for completing their procedures. They worked together and they are ready to move forward now. Effective immediately, they are allowed back in the OR. Taryn hands out assignments. Bailey cautions them all to study because they better score above the 30th percentile on the ABSITE tomorrow.
Winston and Mika round on Emmy Chen, 16, born with cystic fibrosis. She was admitted for a VATS pleurodesis for a persistent pneumothorax. Emmy is not keen on the procedure. Entering with Jules, Monica tells Emmy to listen to Winston and closes the curtain so she can round on Caroline Early in the other bed in the room. Her mother Diane Early heard great things about Monica in their support group. Caroline opens up about how her previous doctor was judging her for being trans. Emmy comments it's a safe space here. Jules says Caroline is scheduled for the excision of a lipoma behind her left knee, which was diagnosed at an outside facility. Since the diagnosis was made a few months ago, Monica wants an MRI and repeat ultrasound to make sure nothing was overlooked. Caroline consents. Monica sticks out her tongue at Emmy as she leaves the room.
Simone presents Dorian Cardenas, day 56, transferred back to the ICU due to sepsis and high-output enterocutaneous fistula. He responded well to the antibiotics. He's scheduled for a laparotomy and takedown of the fistula. As Simone and Lucas examine his abdomen, Bailey and Richard explain the procedure to Dorian and his mother, adding that they will also try to reverse the ostomy. Lucas says he's one step closer to a cheeseburger.
Teddy and Owen have still not located the waterfall. They hear Joseph Scott yelling for help after his daughter Rosie Scott fell into a cave. Teddy runs back down the trail to get reception to call 911. Rosie confirms that she can move her limbs but her ankle really hurts. While Owen checks his phone for reception, Joseph tries to climb but ends up falling into the cave as well.
Owen asks Rosie to check out Joseph's leg but she's scared to move since they are on a ledge. Joseph's leg has blood gushing out. Owen instructs her to use a shirt to apply pressure on the wound. Since that barely helps, he tells her to pack the wound tightly with the shirt. Once it's one, he has Rosie apply steady pressure. Owen assures Rosie that he is not going anywhere.
Caroline struggles to stay still in the MRI. Monica promises her $100 if the scan isn't done after 100 more seconds. Caroline would use that money to make friendship bracelets. The images come up, revealing a mass looking highly suspicious for a neurofibroma.
As they scrub in, Simone starts quizzing Lucas to break the awkward silence.
