Caroline Early is a patient who came from Texas to be treated by Monica Beltran.
History[]
Caroline and her mother, Diane, traveled from Texas to Seattle to get treated by Monica Beltran, who had originally treated Caroline in Texas. Because Caroline is trans, they were fearful of her seeing any new doctors. They believed Caroline had a lipoma on the back of her leg, but an MRI showed that it was actually a neurofibroma, so Monica brought in Amelia Shepherd, a neurosurgeon, to assist. Caroline was nervous about having another doctor involved, but Monica vouched for Amelia, saying if she needed surgery, she'd want Amelia to operate. Caroline asked for time to think about it.
Later, Caroline sneaked out of her room with her roommate, Emmy Chen, and they got snacks for after their surgeries. When they got caught, Caroline watched Emmy collapsed and then get taken to surgery. Caroline then asked Monica if she could do with her what she'd seen Emmy do, talking about their fears. She admitted that she was scared to go under anesthesia as she never had before and she had also read that during surgery, you're naked and she worried about not everyone in the operating room understanding. Monica and Amelia assured her that everyone in there would know what a terrific girl she was. Caroline agreed to have the surgery.
