Connie Ryan is an attending obstetrician-gynecologist at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Meredith Grey's obstetrician when she was pregnant with Derek Bailey Shepherd.

Examining Meredith[]
Dr. Connie Ryan was first seen assessing Meredith Grey after she fell a flight a stairs. Dr. Ryan confirmed that it was lucky that the recent trauma left Meredith's baby unharmed. ("Readiness is All")
Meredith's Birth[]
When Meredith went into labor, Connie was called back to see her. Meredith felt ready to push, but Connie determined that the baby was face presentation, meaning that she needed to perform a c-section. When the power went out and didn't come back on, Connie prepped Meredith for a c-section in the dark.
Connie delivered the baby, who took a moment to start crying. Since he was still haven't trouble breathing, he was taken to the NICU for CPAP. While she was closing, Connie was called away on an emergency, so she left Shane to close. ("Perfect Storm")

She currently works as an attending surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department.

- Dr. Ryan wears a variation of the pink scrubs shirt, similar to the scrubs at St. Ambrose Hospital, instead of the standard v-neck.
- Although not stated in dialogue or visually indicated with scrub color and scrub cap, Dr. Ryan is presumed to be at the attending-level given how her name is displayed on the temporary OR-board during the superstorm.
- Dr. Ryan seems to have a close professional relationship with Derek as they are on a first-name basis.
