Danielle's father, Brian, became engaged to a woman named Karen, who has a son named Micah, after three years of dating. The kids did not approve of their relationship and their family was strained.
Earthquake[]
In an attempt to resolve the conflict within their family, Brian planned a ski trip for them. While they were riding up the hill on the ski lift, an earthquake hit and Micah and Brian fell from the ski lift. Danielle was upset because she felt it was Micah's fault that her dad got hurt and she believed that without him being on the trip, they'd still be skiing. At the hospital, Danielle continued to show no concern for Micah and was adamant to the doctors that Karen was not her mom. While Micah's injures were more severe, Brian's were fairly minor and after repeat labs were clear, he was told he'd be discharged soon.
