Dante Collier is a patient who was in the hospital for surgery and learned he had HIV.
History[]
Dante had been having abdominal pain on and off for two weeks, so he went to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with cholecystitis and scheduled for surgery. While he was being prepped for surgery, Simone Griffith told him he had HIV, unaware that he didn't know already. He was shocked and asked for another doctor. Another HIV test also came back positive, so he said he would be leaving the hospital. When Levi came to bring him the forms to sign, he said that his biggest worry before finding out he had HIV had been how he was going to ask Levi out, but now his whole dating life had changed. Levi explained to him that with treatment, his odds of transmission were greatly reduced, even more if his partners were taking PrEP. Dante collapsed in pain and agreed to have the surgery after all because he was unable to walk. The surgery went well, though they were forced to convert to an open procedure. After his surgery, Levi told him he would have a longer recovery and would have to stay in the hospital for a few days, but would make a full recovery. When Simone came to apologize to him, Dante confessed that he'd missed a few calls from the health department during an extremely busy time at work, which he realized in retrospect was a mistake. After she left, he spent some time talking to Levi about baking shows.
