Dominic Amaya is a paramedic who works with Theo Ruiz.
History[]
Car Accident[]
Dominic was working with Theo when they got a call about a car accident in a parking garage. They arrived to find Carina DeLuca tending to Mac and Lacy, siblings whose car had been hit by another driver. While Carina and Theo worked on Mac, Dominic went to get Lacy out, assuring her that they would do everything they could for her brother. ("My Way")
Paula Kelly[]
Dominic and Theo then came to Station 19 with Paula Kelly, who had a nail in her arm. She refused to go to the hospital, worried she'd lose her job, so they took her to the station in the hopes they could treat her. Then they promised to take her back to work. When they got a call, Theo responded and said their engine had died and they were at station 19 for mechanical assistance. Knowing Bennett would check the engine, Dominic pulled out a part from under the good. Later, after Paula was treated, Theo started working on the engine. He asked Dominic for help and Dominic had to admit that he broke it, but he didn't know how to fix it.
The next morning, he and Theo went to Joe's to drink with Station 19 and he and Travis played darts. ("Give It All")
Migrants[]
Dominic and Theo came back to the station with supplies when they learned a group of migrants had arrived seeking medical care. After seeing the food Beckett had prepared for them, Dominic and Theo went to a Salvadorian restaurant and Dominic talked the owner into giving them free food to take to the migrants. ("Ushers of the New World")
Fall City Wildfire[]
Theo, Dominic, and Kate were called to Cloudhead Ranch to protect one building at a campground as a wildfire approached the area. Theo expressed discomfort with the idea of protecting a building while lives were at stake, but Kate reminded him that that was their job. Later, while station 19 was divided working on preventing the fire from spreading and evacuating civilians, Theo decided to abandon his post to help them keep the fire at bay so they could rescue a man and his dog and Dominic joined him. Later, while they were putting out small fires, Theo noticed a branch about to hit Travis and pushed Travis out of the way, causing him to get hit instead. Dominic helped the team from station 19 treat him and get him into a medevac. ("How Am I Supposed to Live Without You")
When they learned they had no ability to communicate with Incident Command, Dominic said that Kate had a satellite phone and he and Travis went to see if they could use it. When they found Kate, she was still working to protect the building. They watched as a fire tornado approached and tried to warn Kate, but they were too late and they watched as she was thrown into the building and killed. Dominic was horrified because he'd wished her dead. With the fire tornado worsening conditions, Travis and Dominic returned to the group just in time for the canopy above them to catch fire. They decided to move into a deployment area and deploy their fire shelters. Travis had Dominic shelter with him as he didn't have a shelter of his own. Once the fire had passed, they emerged from their shelters to find that Andy was missing. They began searching for her and Dominic drew Maya's ire when he implied that Andy might have died. They used one of the shelters as a shield and walked through the fire. They finally found Andy with the Tulalip firefighters. With their help, they were able to contain the fire in their area and learned that other areas had similar success in containment. Andy then collapsed and was taken to the hospital, where the team followed. After getting checked out and medically cleared, they waited for Andy to wake up. She told them she knew she had to go in order to save her team and said she'd do it again, despite the risk.
Three months later, the team threw a party for Vic, who was leaving to move to DC. When Travis decided to move with her, he said he and Dominic would figure things out. ("One Last Time")
