Emmy Chen is a patient with cystic fibrosis who had a partially-collapsed lung.
History[]
Emmy was born with cystic fibrosis. She had developed a partially-collapsed lung and was scheduled for a VATS pleurodesis to irrigate the outside lining of her lung and chest wall with the hope of resolving that complication. Due to a large volume of patients, Emmy had to share her hospital room with Caroline Early, who was also having surgery. Emmy encouraged Caroline to reject the surgery and wanted to reject her own, despite having agreed, along with her parents, to have it.
Emmy disappeared before her surgery, along with Caroline, and they were found getting snacks out of a vending machine, which they claimed were for after surgery. Monica Beltran went to get them back to their room, but Emmy collapsed. ON her way to surgery, Emmy tried to talk, but couldn't, so Monica guesses that Emmy was scared she wasn't going to make it. Monica assured her that she would be fine.

She was also close with Monica Beltran, her surgeon, becuase Beltran would often have dinner with her.
