Georgia Arkins is a bull rider who was trampled by a bull.
History[]
Georgia was riding a bull when she was thrown off and then trampled. She was taken to a rural hospital, but they lacked the resources to treat her, so they flew her to Grey Sloan Memorial. When she arrived, she was dazed from the sedatives they'd given her and asked if she could go again because she only rode the bull for five seconds. In the ER, they did some scans which showed a retrohepatic hematoma and multiple burst fractures to her spine. Maggie decided not to operate on the hematoma, but encouraged Amelia to go in on her spine. They presented both options to her parents and they asked Amelia to do the surgery, because she would be paralyzed if she didn't have that surgery and they wanted to preserve her ability to ride bulls.
In surgery, Georgia's hematoma ruptured, but Maggie was able to repair the tear to her IVC and stop the bleeding. Georgia woke up after her surgery and immediately pulled out her breathing tube. She asked when she'd be able to ride again. Maggie and Amelia tried to discourage her from ever riding again, but she said it was all she wanted to do.
Relationships[]
Familial[]
She comes from a family of champion bull riders. Her father didn't want her to ride bulls, but she insisted that it was all she wanted to do, so they allowed her to do it. After she ended up in the hospital with a crushed trachea, they tried to put a stop to it, but she refused to talk or eat, so they let her start again.
