Gladys is a social worker in Los Angeles.
History[]
Placing Betsey[]
When the doctors at the practice decided that none of them could keep Betsey, they called in Gladys to take her and place her in foster care. ("A Better Place to Be")
Abuse Allegations[]
While she was living with Phil and Gina Rakoff, Betsey ended up in the hospital after falling down the stairs. When Cooper learned that she'd also previously broken her clavicle, he contacted Gladys to report them. Gladys came to the hospital and said she'd follow-up, but she said she was sure that he was wrong about them. ("God Bless the Child")
Eli[]
When baby Eli was caught between his mother, Melissa, who was addicted to drugs, and his sister, Denise, who believed Melissa was bad for him, Gladys came in and talked to both of them and Eli's doctors. She said that having the child with a biological parent was the ideal, but if the doctors believed having him around Melissa would be detrimental to him, they could explore other options. ("Too Much")
