Hal is a firefighter who helped the doctors rescue Keith Gardner.

Tunnel Collapse[]
When the tunnel on 99 collapsed, Hal was sent to the scene to help get people out of the rubble. When the team from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital arrived on the scene, he took them to Keith Gardner, who was trapped in his car. He helped them as they tended to Keith as much as they could and when they decided they couldn't do anything more for him, Hal said he was making the call and they'd be cutting Keith out. Extracting Keith[]
Hal accompanied the doctors to the hospital when they took Keith in along with the car he was trapped in. When they were ready, he and his team cut Keith out one piece at a time. ("You're My Home")

Hal is the Battalion Chief for the 28th Battalion of the Seattle Fire Department.
