Internal medicine is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical problems, ranging from severe to minor diseases on their own or as multiple diseases at one time.
Internal medicine can be a pre-requisite for further specialized medical training, such as endocrinology. However, during and after specialized training, physicians can still operate as an internist and their new respective specialty.

As Pete had to have completed an internal medicine residency to specialize in infectious disease and critical care, it is very likely that Meg also practices internal medicine.
