Jeanette Keener was the doctor's rep in the plane crash lawsuit.

History[]

Jeanette represented Derek Shepherd, Cristina Yang, Meredith Grey, Arizona Robbins, and Callie Torres as they attempted to settle with the airline following the plane crash. During their first meeting with the representative from the airline, Jeanette listed off all the injuries they'd sustained and Lexie and Mark's deaths. They asked how the investigation was going and the airline rep warned them it could take years, which is why they were offering a settlement now, so they could put it behind them. Jeanette took that to mean the airline wanted to put it behind them. He offered them a one-time settlement. They had to accept it unanimously and it would restrict them from any future litigation.

The doctors initially agreed to take the settlement, but after Derek visited the warehouse where the wreckage was kept, he told them they shouldn't settle because if they did, they wouldn't be able to do anything with the results of the investigation. Jeanette tried to advise them to settle, but they ignored her recommendation and rejected the money. ("Love the One You're With")

At a later meeting, Jeanette told the doctors they needed to document everything, because they needed to assess emotional damages. When Cristina joined the meeting, Jeanette told Owen he no longer needed to be there, as he'd been there to represent Cristina, but Derek said it was fine if he stayed. Once they collected all their comments, she said, they'd use them to calculate damages. Then they'd decide who to sue. When Jeanette and Andy suggested suing the pilot, they fought against it because Jerry had been out in the woods with them and was paralyzed in the crash. Jeanette advised them to stop thinking of Jerry as one of their group. She also pushed Callie to say that Derek would never operate again, as that would get them more in damages.

Later, Derek and Callie met with Jeanette and Callie retracted her earlier statement. She said she believed Derek would operate again and there were other options she could try.

All the doctors met with Jeanette and she thanked them for their statements. She said their next step would be to file the complaint. She had Owen step out and told the others they would be suing the hospital, as they had put the doctors on that plane. ("Second Opinion")

After the trial ended with the judge awarding each of them $15 million, Jeanette told them the hospital's insurance company would be handing them a very large check soon. ("The End is the Beginning is the End")
