Jermaine Talbott was a professional football player who came to the hospital for knee surgery.

History[]

Jermaine was born in Haiti, but came to Seattle to start training as a football player when he was eleven, leaving the rest of his family back in Port-au-Prince. Eventually, his training led to him being the first round draft pick for the Seattle Seahawks, which he hope would allow him to bring the rest of his family to the US. While playing, he tore his ACL and ended up in the hospital for a bridge-enhanced ACL repair, which would lessen his recovery time and improve his mobility as compared to other ACL repairs. He had a previous MCL tear and meniscal cadaver transplant.

Jermaine's surgery went well, but afterward, he developed a large clot in his pulmonary artery and had to be rushed to the IR suite for an embolectomy. During the procedure, Jermaine coded. They did two hours of CPR, but were unable to resuscitate and Jermaine was pronounced dead.
