Jonathan Cook is an anti-abortion extremist who feigned illness in order to assault Miranda Bailey.

Jonathan presented in the ER with symptoms of a kidney stone. Benson Kwan took his history, during which he pretended to be nauseous and scored the pain a 9/10. He claimed to have always had problem with his kidneys, stating that his right one had been removed. Benson pointed out he had previously indicated his pain was currently on the right side. Jonathan said he was getting old and got things mixed up. As Benson moved to examine his abdomen, Jonathan pulled back and asked if Dr. Bailey was working today as he had read online that she was the best doctor at Grey Sloan for kidney problems. Benson said he'd put in a page and get urine samples and images in the meanwhile. Jonathan stated he didn't want to mess with the one kidney he had left.
Bailey later joined Benson in the ER after urine analysis and X-ray came back negative. She was confused as to why he paged her. He said the man had asked for her and informed her that the films indicated he still had both of his kidneys and he also hadn't seen any surgical scars. They then arrived at Jonathan's bed and he told her he had been looking forward to meeting her. As she went to explain that they would go on to perform an ultrasound, he interrupted her to ask about her kids. She thought she had treated him before but he stated he was just a fan of hers. He then asked her about her new place and said it would be a shame if something were to happen to Pruitt Arike Miller after all she'd been through already. Bailey asked Benson to discharge Jonathan as she began to back away. He jumped out of his bed and accused her of being a murderer. He began chasing after her while yelling at her that she was a baby killer. Benson then tackled him from behind and kept him pinned to the ground. Jonathan yelled that this wasn't over. He was restrained and guarded by security and police officers while Atticus Lincoln examined his injuries.
