Seeing Simone Off[]
Joyce sent Simone off to work one morning with a bag that she said contained her lunch, Simone's favorite. Simone opened the bag to find the remote and other household items. Despite this, she told Joyce it was her favorite and left with the bag. ("Wasn't Expecting That")
Visiting the Hospital[]
Joyce came to the hospital, believing she was visiting her daughter, who was in labor. Lucas Adams looked up her daughter and found she was both dead and Simone's mother. He paged Simone to the ER so she could take care of her grandmother. Simone tried to orient Joyce to reality, but this agitated Joyce, so Meredith stepped in to calm her down. Once she was calm, Lucas took her to a lounge to play cards with her. Simone later took over and pretended to be her mother, whom Joyce thought she was. ("Let's Talk About Sex")
Simone's Wedding[]
Joyce attended Simone's wedding. Before the wedding, she went to Simone, thinking she was her mother, and said she didn't have to marry Kenneth if she felt Dewayne was better for her. This led to Simone leaving the wedding, deciding to be with Lucas instead of Trey. ("Wedding Bell Blues")
Moving to Assisted Living[]
When Joyce moved to assisted living, her son-in-law and both her granddaughters came to help her get settled in. When Simone found a picture of her mother and sister, Joyce told her it was right before she had Simone. ("She Used to Be Mine")
