Brentner was at some point diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had his cancer treated at Seattle Cancer Center.
Zola's Case[]
While Alex was looking for information on Zola's adoption, he was told that Judge Brentner was on the case. When he found out that he was being treated for cancer at the Seattle Cancer Center, he made a trip over there and tried to persuade him to return Zola to Meredith and Derek. Judge Brentner informed him that it is a crime to attempt to influence a judge.
