Krista Vernoff served as the head writer and as an executive producer of Grey's Anatomy until the end of season seven. She also wrote several episodes of both Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. On April 28, 2017, she announced that she'd be returning to Grey's Anatomy for season fourteen as showrunner and writer.[source?] In season fifteen, she directed her first episode. She is also the showrunner for Station 19 since its third season.

Vernoff originally intended to be an actor, as she trained to be one in the Boston University College of Fine Arts,[1] but she later chose writing as her career.[2]
