House Fire[]
Lance's wife, Anne, was injured in a house fire. She was taken to the hospital, where they determined she had burns over 60% of her body. Her burns were treated and Lance stayed by her side for a while. He was irritated when JJ starting making jokes from the next bed.
Divorce[]
During Anne's treatment, Lance ultimately decided it was too much for him, that it wasn't what he signed on for, and he left her.
