Laura Eames is a patient who was pregnant and had a heart problem.

History[]

Laura was 22 weeks pregnant and had mitral valve insufficiency. She was in the hospital to have a mitral valve repair. Her brother, Todd, came along with her, as he'd support her throughout her entire pregnancy, even when everyone else in her life was against it. While Laura was having her pre-op examinations, she talked to Jo and learned she was a single mother as well. Laura then tried to set Jo up with her brother.

Laura was taken into surgery, but they were unable to complete he procedure because her fetus compressed her aorta, briefly stopping her heart. They were able to stabilize her, but said her surgery would have to be rescheduled. When Laura learned that Jo and Todd had made plans to get drinks together, she raved about Jo to Todd. ("Put the Squeeze On Me")

On the day of Laura's rescheduled surgery, another patient pulled Maggie away, so Teddy stepped in to do Laura's procedure, which went well. After surgery, Todd said she was well enough to tease him, which he took as a good sign. ("Road Trippin'")

She later made cookies for Jo and sent them to the hospital with Todd. ("Should I Stay or Should I Go")

Familial[]

She is close with her brother. When she decided to have a baby on her own, despite some health issues, he made a spreadsheet to track all of her symptoms, and offered her the other half of his duplex while she recovered from her mitral valve repair. ("Put the Squeeze On Me")
