Leah Hudley is a cancer patient who declined radical surgery to preserve her fertility.
History[]
Leah came in to have what she believed was a cyst removed. However, pathology revealed stage II ovarian cancer. Leah was eager to jump right into treatment, but objected when Addison suggested immediately removing her uterus and both ovaries. She wanted to have a baby. Leah said she wanted a second opinion and left.
Leah saw Wyatt Lockhart, who offered her a clinical trial that would fight her cancer while preserving her fertility. Leah came back to Addison upset because she hadn't released her file to Lockhart's office. After telling Addison that this was all she ever wanted, to have a baby and show she could provide for the baby by herself, Addison gave Leah her file and said she hoped it worked for her.
When the treatment caused a perforation to her colon, Addison had to take Leah into emergency surgery. Addison repaired the perforation and Lockhart noticed that the tumor had shrunk. Addison said she'd send a sample to pathology, but Lockhart was convinced his protocol was working. The biopsy showed that the tumor was shrinking, but Leah said that she didn't want to die and asked if Addison would still do the surgery. Addison said she would. She said they'd get rid of the cancer and then they'd find a way for her to have her family.
