Make No Mistake, He's Mine is the eighth episode of the fourth season and the 51st overall episode of Station 19.

Short Summary[]

Vic's love life is complicated again as she learns of a shocking secret. Meanwhile, Andy grows frustrated at Sullivan for undermining her authority, and Maya struggles to keep her jealousy at bay when one of Carina's old flames comes to visit.

Full Summary[]

Andy pulls away from Sullivan to get a drink of water, saying she needs some before she can continue. There's no water in her cup, but Sullivan pulls her back in anyway.

Theo and Vic argue about their food contributions to the date. He doesn't think it feels like a first date. Vic wouldn't know, as she's never been on one before. She just collides with people and suddenly they're dating. Theo leans in and they kiss. They're interrupted when Theo's phone rings. He tries to ignore it, but then goes to answer it. After he hangs up, he tells Vic he's subbing at 19 tomorrow. Vic is shocked and asks him to keep their relationship under wraps at the station. They start kissing again.

Condola Vargas is upset that she wasn't Dean's first call. He says he called Yemi first because she's his sister. Dola reminds him that Yemi does contracts. She's not a litigator and he needs a litigator. They talk about their romantic history together and then she asks him what he wants out of the lawsuit. He says he wants the officers punished for what they did and he wants justice. She tells him that's too vague because justice doesn't mean anything. It's subjective. He has to decide what the best possible outcome is for taking on the Seattle Police Department. He has to figure out what he wants to achieve.

Jack, Inara, and Marcus are FaceTiming with Marsha, telling her they're going to have a feast in her honor tomorrow when she gets home. She decides she wants carbs and cheese, so Marcus suggests macaroni and cheese. Marsha says the hospital told her she needs a family member to pick her up, but her son hasn't answered her calls. Marcus remarks that they're her family and Jack says he took the whole day off to come pick her up. She asks them to bring her some chocolate.

Carina is on the phone, making arrangements for Andrew's apartment. Maya puts a cup of espresso in front of her and she makes a face when she sips it. There's a knock at the door, so Maya puts on a mask and answers it. She finds Gabriella Aurora, who brushes past her and hugs Carina, speaking to her in Italian, saying she just heard about Andrew and assuring her she gets tested often, so it's safe. Carina then introduces Gabriella as her friend.

Sullivan finds Ben with a math textbook and Ben explains that he was trying to prove to Tuck that his math homework was easy, but it's backfiring because the math he's doing is way more complicated than what Ben remembers doing. In the locker room, they run into Theo, who introduces himself. Theo recognizes Sullivan as the former battalion chief. Vic then comes in and they pretend to introduce themselves. Next to come in is Travis, who drops what's in his arms and flees without saying anything.

Vic follows Travis downstairs and asks if he's okay. He says he isn't, because he never thought he'd have to see Theo again. Theo was Michael's captain, the one responsible for his death.

Sullivan, Ben, and Dena talk about Dola's qualifications. She was first in her class at Yale. And she's Dean's ex. He's just stuck on her question of what he wanted. Ben says he'd like not to have to teach his kid not to ride in a car with more than two Black friends. Dean sees the homework Ben is struggling with and easily completes it. He makes fun of Ben for not knowing it for a moment and then says he can show Ben how he did it.

Travis is amazed that Theo even still has a job. Vic is surprised that it's him because that guy was a captain and Theo's only a lieutenant. Travis says he must have gotten demoted as a result, meaning there was a slap on the wrist involved. Suddenly, they hear yelling and then Josh is trying to open the station door. Behind him, Tad and Rick walk in to the vestibule. Tad has an arrow going through his forehead and out the back of his head. Travis has them put on their masks and sends Vic to call a still alarm. He then buzzes the three guys in.

Inara asks Marcus where his jacket is as they're getting ready to go get Marsha. Jack gets a call from Emmett telling him not to come as Marsha has taken a turn and may need to be put on a ventilator. They didn't call Jack because her son is her emergency contact. Emmett's not sure if her son answered the call. Inara hugs an upset Marcus as Jack ends the call.

As Travis puts him in a c-collar, Tad reports feeling okay despite the arrow. His vitals are stable. The rest of the team joins them. Sullivan immediately tries to take charge, saying he's seen something like this before, but Andy reminds him she's in charge and gives orders. Vic notices that Rick and Josh also have minor injuries, so Andy tells her to take them to the barn to treat them.

In the barn, Vic asks them what happened. They tell her they were playing football in the park, but that's not consistent with their injuries.

Tad tells the firefighters he has a plan. He's going to pull the arrow out himself. They immediately warn him not to do that. Sullivan wants to push a benzo, but Andy says they're not going to do anything until they get him to the hospital and Ben agrees. They move him to the gurney and Andy holds his head up. She says she'll do it the whole way if she needs to. Once he's on the gurney, Andy says they need to go fast, though Sullivan thinks they should so slow so as not to jostle him.

Tad struggles with them as they load him into the aid car. His friends are worried when Andy mentions the possibility of permanent brain damage. Sullivan says if he keeps fighting, he'll displace the arrow or worse. Tad asks them what arrow they're talking about.

Back in the station entryway, Rick and Josh argue about whose fault it was. Vic asks them again what happened. Josh says Covid has been hard and they needed an adrenaline rush. They were shooting darts in Josh's garage and drinking, but they needed more thrill, so they upped the stakes and started trying to shoot cans off each other's heads. Vic leaves Theo and Dean to take care of them as she can't handle them anymore. Josh and Rick decide they're going to go to the hospital to check on Tad and tell the doctors what happened. Once they're gone, Dean asks if they make them that dumb at 23 and Theo says they might have them beat.

Gabriella has made espresso and Carina declares it perfect after taking a sip. Maya asks Gbriella to teach her the secret. Gabriella says the secret is to make it right. Maya says she's tried and sustained multiple burns along the way along with spilling a cup of milk. Gabriella says putting milk in the espresso is her problem. Then she asks who this woman is in Italian. Carina asks Gabriella to speak English, but Gabriella just asks how Maya doesn't speak Italian when she lives with an Italian woman. Maya says she's learning, but it's slow. Gabriella asks, in Italian, for flour. Maya gets it after Carina translates, along with potatoes when Gabriella asks. Maya asks if they grew up together. Carina says they've been friends since medical school. Gabriella says that, too, but in Italian she says they also had a lot of sex, which Maya understands.

Theo tries to talk to Vic, but she pulls him into another room and asks if he knew that she knew Travis. He says he didn't know they were friends. Vic says they're more than friends. He's a part of her. Theo asks if she wants to hear his side and she says there are no other sides.

Inara tells Jack Marcus is still trying. He knows it's a bad sign that she might have to go on a ventilator because he read that many people who go on them die. Jack says they have friends at the hospital that will make sure she gets the best treatment possible. Inara can't stop thinking about her son, who doesn't seem to care that his mother is in the ICU. Jack says alcoholism can destroy a family. When he first met Marsha, she had caught her Christmas tree on fire and was so drunk, she was trying to put it out with a glass of water. Inara is shocked, as she's never seen Marsha drink anything. Jack says he thinks she's happy now with them and doesn't want to screw it up.

Tad continues to fight them on their way to the hospital. As they turn the corner, they get caught behind a car that's stopped in the middle of the road. Ben pulls alongside it and sees that the driver appears unconscious. Sullivan tells Travis to get out and tend to the driver, but Andy reminds him it's her call to make. She then sends Travis out to deal with the driver and says they'll call it in.

Travis finds the other car locked and the driver with what looks like vomit coming out of the side of his mouth. He also sees drug paraphernalia on the seat beside him.

As they clean the entryway, Theo asks Dean if he's the Miller from the police video. Dean confirms that he is and Theo says he's sorry. Dean ask Theo what his deal is, if he's married or has any kids, but they're interrupted by a call asking for backup for Travis. The call is nearby, so Dean says he'll go to the scene. Theo says the cops might be there and Dean has dealt with them enough lately, so he'll go instead.

Travis can't rouse the driver, so he breaks a window and climbs in.

Tad threatens to sue the firefighters, but Andy knows it's an empty threat. Tad becomes unresponsive, so Sullivan wants to intubate. Andy says he's still breathing, so they'll wait and bag him instead. She can't intubate and hold his head at the same time. They're two minutes from the hospital. Sullivan takes a sheet from the cabinet and ties it up in the aid car.

Travis is still trying to wake Charlie, the driver, but is unsuccessful. Theo arrives on scene after running there and Travis says he doesn't need Theo's help, so he can leave. Travis administers naloxone and Charlie wakes with a start and releases the brake, causing the car to roll over Theo's foot. When Theo screams, Charlie hits the brake again, stopping the car on Theo's foot.

Sullivan has finished intubating Tad and they arrive at the hospital. They report to Mabel Tseng on the case. She has trauma and neuro waiting for him. She says the hammock was a genius move.

Gabriella and Carina are looking through old photos. Maya asks if that's when they started dating. Carina clarifies that they never dated. They didn't have the time or the energy. They just needed an outlet. They come across a picture of Andrew from when he came to visit them at school. They go through more photos and Maya gets a text from Jack saying that Marsha took a turn and is going to be ventilated. Maya lies and says it's Andy with a family thing. Carina says it's okay if she needs to go.

Travis sends Charlie to the hospital in the aid car from 15. Theo asks if he feels better now. He thinks Travis did it on purpose because he should have turned the car off from the start. Travis says he's a little off today and can't imagine why. Travis starts walking back to the station. Theo sarcastically says his foot is fine. Travis throws him an ice pack and says he won't mind walking back then.

Vic is quickly running a hose. Dean asks if she's trying to break a record and she says she's actually trying to figure out if she's cursed somehow. She tells him Theo is Travis's Theo, the guy responsible for Michael's death. Travis doesn't know Theo's Vic's guy. Theo then limps in and says a car rolled over his foot.

Andy is finishing up the report. Sullivan asks if she's almost done and she says she is, unless he wants to check her signature. She's angry with him for second-guessing her all day and making her second-guess herself. He's confused, but she says he contradicted her orders. He reminds her that she did that when he was her captain. She reminds him that when he was her captain, he benched her for insubordination. He says that everything he did was to help her. She says she didn't ask for his help. And what does it say that he constantly thinks she needs it.

Inara answers a knock at the door to find Maya. They re-introduce themselves. Maya came because she got the text about Marsha. Inara goes to check on Marcus and Jack says Maya's not normally the type of friend to drop everything and check on a friend. Maya tells him about Gabriella. She denies that she's jealous. But Carina's come alive with Gabriella in a way that Maya hasn't seen in weeks. She's laughing again and eating again and Maya feels threatened. Jack says Carina loves her, but she's also going through the worst thing they can probably imagine. If she's eating and laughing again, that's a good thing no matter why. Maya says this is why she doesn't do feelings. They become other people's problem. Maya asks if Inara hates her. Jack says she doesn't know Maya well enough to hate her. Then he says she could make it up to Inara by doing them a favor.

After they have returned to the station, Ben laughs at seeing Andy refuse to acknowledge Sullivan. He was in the same boat with his wife being his boss at times. He looks at it like sports. True athletes want to play with the best. Getting whupped sucks, but it makes you better. No one wants someone else sandbagging their game to make themselves look better. His wife is the boss and he needs to let her shine right now.

Dean asks Travis if he really ran over Theo's foot. Travis says it was an accident, but Dean chastises him for leaving an injured firefighter behind. Travis says you shouldn't get other firefighters killed either. Dean says it's a dangerous job, which Travis knows. That's why they have to do it right. They can't make stupid mistakes that cost people everything. Theo cost him everything and left him with nothing. He has nothing and he's a bunch of broken pieces of what he used to be. He spent years trying to get over it. Theo doesn't just get to make a mistake like that and walk away from it.

Vic joins Ben, Sullivan, and Dean in the beanery as Dean calls Dola. Dean tells Dola he's been thinking about what she asked him and has decided that he never wants anyone else to be put through what Jada and Joyce were. He doesn't want anyone else to feel like they made him feel. She says that's a good answer and now the real work starts.

Maya and Carina are outside the hospital with a ladder truck. Jack thanks them. Carina says it's good for recovery, seeing loved ones. Inara says Marcus is threatening to climb up himself to Jack goes to climb up with him. He leads Marcus up the steps, holding him from behind as they climb. Once they're in the basket, Jack gives the signal to raise it up to Marsha's window. Once they're there, they wave to Marsha and hold up a banner saying for her to feel better soon.

Maya apologizes to Carina for lying to her about Jack. Carina says she's not threatened by Jack and Maya admits that she does feel threatened by Gabriella. Carina says Gabriella is her friend, who drove overnight during a pandemic to be with her. Maya knows it's not fair and it's stupid, but Maya says they've really settled into them. Sometimes, she knows what Carina is going to say by how she crinkles her left eyebrow and she likes that. It's lovely and satisfying and something she's never had before. Carina and Gabriella never even dated and they have their own shorthand. They literally speak the same language. Carina says Maya has that with Jack, with talking about ladder trucks and fire hoses. Maya says it's different and Carina says what they have is different. It's just theirs. Carina leans in and kisses her.

Sullivan tells Andy he has more experience than she does. He has years under his belt and he's not using them on the job, so he thought he could use them to help her. He knows she didn't ask. She knows he hates being a probie. She hates it, too. Sullivan says she's only captain for one more shift and then Maya will be back and it won't be a problem anymore. Andy says she'll still be his lieutenant. And someday soon, a captain herself. It's a problem they need to solve. He asks if they need to solve it tonight and she says they probably don't.

Vic asks Theo how his foot is. He reminds her that she said there was only one side and one story. She admits that there is another side. There's her side, the side that's trying to square the Theo she knows with the one in Travis's head. It's not working out. She can't make the pieces fit, but she knows and trusts Travis. She knows him and how he thinks. She doesn't think he could get something so important so wrong. That's where she's planting her flag. So that means that's it for the two of them. Theo says she's making it worse. He wants her to know that what happened with Michael destroyed him and haunts him, too. Vic steps forward and hugs him. A few moments later, Travis comes in and they jerk apart.

Tad[]

Tad came into station 19 with an arrow penetrating through his forehead and out the back of his head. Vic called a still alarm while Travis let him into the station, along with his friends Josh and Rick. They put him in a c-collar and put him on a gurney to transport him to the hospital, with Andy holding his head as they couldn't rest it on the gurney. Rick and Josh initially lied about what happened while Vic treated the lacerations on their arms, but eventually admitted that they'd been attempting to shoot cans off each other's heads. On the way to the hospital, they passed a stopped car with an unconscious driver, so Travis stayed behind to tend to that. When Tad became unresponsive, Sullivan said they needed to intubate. Andy disagreed and said to bag him as he was still breathing. Sullivan used a sheet to make a sling to hold Tad's head up so he could be intubated without putting his head down on the gurney. They then dropped him off at the hospital so he could be treated.

Charlie[]

Charlie was passed out in the road behind the wheel of his car after using drugs. Travis broke a window in his car to get in, then used naloxone to reverse the drugs, which caused him to wake with a start and release the brake on his car, rolling over Theo's foot. When he heard the screaming, he pressed the brake again, but had Theo trapped under the tire. He let go of the brake again and Theo's foot was released, but injured. After they got Charlie into an aid car and on his way to the hospital, Theo sarcastically said his foot was fine, so Travis threw him an ice pack and left him to walk back to Station 19 on it.
