Mariana is a patient whose endometriosis had invaded her pubic bone.
History[]
Mariana came to Elena Bailey Memorial Clinic for Reproductive Health with severe cramps. Her fiancé, Edgar, came with her. She had a history of endometriosis, but said the pain she was in exceeded her normal pain with menstruation. Jo examined her and ran some tests, which showed that her endometriosis had infiltrated her bone. She brought in Link and they explained the condition to Mariana. Edgar proposed that they get married right there at the hospital, where they'd both been hospitalized as premature infants. Mariana hesitated and then was taken for surgery. After the surgery, Mariana told Jo that she'd been with Edgar her whole life, because their mothers were friends, and she was starting to worry that she only wanted him because she'd never experienced anything else. She decided to call off the wedding.

She was engaged to Edgar. Their mothers met when she and Edgar were both patients in the same NICU at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, then named Seattle Grace Hospital. She broke off the engagement four days before their wedding because she worried she only wanted him because she'd never experienced anything else.
