Mason Bishop is the brother of Maya Bishop.
History[]
Childhood[]
As a teen, Mason was involved both in art at his school and running. His father, who openly preferred Maya for focusing all her energy on running in order to be the best, insulted him constantly for refusing to give up art in order to be the best at running. While their mother stood by their father, Maya said she'd come to Mason's art show. ("Into the Woods")
Arrest[]
As an adult, Mason was arrested for stealing art supplies. Ryan called Maya to let her know and she verified that he was her brother. She was shocked to learn that Mason had been living on the streets. He had given up running and taken up art when he was young because Maya was a superior athlete. His parents refused to support his art, including when he got into art school because they invested all their time and money into Maya. ("Reignited")
Vaccination Clinic[]
Mason came to the area where his sister and Andy were giving hepatitis vaccinations. Andy offered him one, but Maya said no needles for him. Maya also offered him some food and things she'd brought in case she ran into him, but he refused, saying he didn't want handouts. She also offered to have him live with her. He refused that as well.
Maya later found Mason's camp and brought him food and art supplies and told him she was there when he wanted more. He painted a large picture on a nearby wall, but left the area. ("Let It Burn")
Maya and Carina's Wedding[]
At the time of Maya and Carina's wedding, Maya had no idea where he was. ("Forever and Ever, Amen")
Fabruary Pride[]
Mason went to Fabruary Pride to protest the event, wearing a gaiter to disguise his face. While he was there, he saw Maya, who saw him in turn, walking the parade route. Later, Maya saw him and called out to him. He turned toward her and looked for a minute before turning and running away. ("True Colors")
Maya's Visit[]
Maya got his address from the report on Collin Fowler from the parade and visited him there. He tried to brush her off, but she got him to give her ten minutes to talk. When they got inside, Maya tried to tell him that this hate was not him and he was a kind person, like when they were children and he insisted on having a funeral for a mouse who died in the garage. He asked her why she cared so much and she said he was attacking her and her community. She told him she was bisexual and married to a woman with a son. He made disparaging remarks about her and her family, making her realize he wouldn't accept the love she was offering. She said goodbye to him and left. ("Give It All")
Relationships[]
Familial[]
As a child, Mason was left behind because his sister was a superior athlete. He gave up running and took up art. He got into art school, but his parents wouldn't pay for it because they invested all their money into Maya, who went on to win an Olympic gold. ("Reignited")
