Maxine Anderson is Jules Millin's roommate who came to the hospital with pain while urinating.
History[]
Claire[]
When Max first started teaching, there was another teacher named Claire who often showed up late with bruises. Max asked about it and learned that Claire's husband raised a lot of money for the school. She decided not to ask anything else for fear of losing her job, but regretted it when Claire's husband killed her two weeks later, a decision that haunted Max for the rest of her life. ("Happily Ever After?")
Gonorrhea Diagnosis[]
Maxine came to the ER with her friend, Norma Douglas, who had swelling in her knee. While Norma was being examined, she told the doctors that Maxine had pain on urination. Jules Millin, one of the doctors and Maxine's roommate, chastised her for not saying anything, because it could be another UTI. They both got testing and were both diagnosed with gonorrhea. The doctors told them they needed to call their sexual partners and let them know they needed to get tested. They were shocked when they both called Hal Stillman. When Hal arrived, they confronted him over sleeping with both of them without telling them. When the doctors told him he needed to call his sexual partners as well, he listed off several more names. ("Pick Yourself Up")
Urinary Tract Infection[]
Max came back to the ER when she woke up feeling dizzy. Levi noted that she was dehydrated, so he ordered fluids and some tests. The tests showed a urinary tract infection, so he ordered more fluids and antibiotics. Benson was told to monitor her, but he felt to join a trauma and Max got out of bed and wandered in the hospital. When Bailey found her and got her back to bed, she was confused and they realized she'd developed sepsis, so they admitted her to the ICU and ordered more antibiotics. ("Come Fly With Me")
Maxine's condition improved, so she was moved out of the ICU to the step-down unit. In her new room, she went to the bathroom to brush her hair, but slipped and fell, hitting her head. X-rays showed a fractured rib, which she was told would heal on its own. A CT scan then showed a brain bleed, so she was taken to surgery for decompression. Her surgery went well and she was moved back to the ICU afterward. ("Ready to Run")
Maxine continued to recover. One day, she got lost while walking around the floor and ended up spending the day by Enzo Alvarez's bedside, talking to him and telling him stories because his mother was unable to be with him. When she went back to her room, she suddenly struggled to breathe. Ignoring her DNR, Benson intubated her and Levi placed a chest tube. ("Wedding Bell Blues") With Maxine unconscious, it was left to Jules to decide if she wanted to pull the tube or start pressors for Maxine's low pressure. Jules decided to start pressors, which worked and Maxine stabilized. When Maxine woke up, she tried to pull out her breathing tube. They stopped her, but she wrote them a message telling them to pull it. Benson talked to her and explained that she wasn't dying, that'd she'd simply had a complication. He asked her to give them 24 hours and then promised they'd pull her tube. That night, she was on the lowest vent settings, a promising sign. ("Happily Ever After?")
The next day, Maxine remained stable and they were able to extubate her. After her extubation, she was stable and annoyed. ("We've Only Just Begun")
Fall City Wildfire[]
As a wildfire that started in Fall City approached Seattle, Maxine was annoyed that it might delay her hot yoga retreat. ("Burn It Down")
Relationships[]

She had a sexual relationship with Hal Stillman. ("Pick Yourself Up") She also had a crush on a fellow student named Marshall when she was pre-law, but she never told him how she felt. ("Come Fly With Me")
She is divorced. ("Ready to Run")
Familial[]
Her son, Pete, went to college right after she and her ex-husband got divorced. After college, he moved to London and rarely sees his mother anymore. ("Ready to Run")
Friendships[]
