The Mayoral Race is the race to become the next mayor of Seattle, between Travis Montgomery, Michael Dixon, and Robel Osman.

Timeline[]

Travis was shocked when he was at the Dixons' for dinner and learned that Michael Dixon was running for mayor of Seattle and pledged to eliminate Crisis One if elected. ("Alone in the Dark") Soon after that, Dixon appeared on television to make a formal announcement of his candidacy. ("Death and the Maiden")

After a day at the clinic, Travis lamented that Dixon would shut it down if he were elected. The others suggested that Travis run for mayor to make sure that Dixon couldn't do that. ("The Road You Didn't Take")

Travis looked into the process of becoming a candidate for mayor and quickly became overwhelmed. The whole point of him running would be to shave a few points off Dixon, but their voting bases wouldn't be the same people. After a call, when Travis learned that the police department wanted to press charged against a driver who had sacrificed his own life moving radioactive material that had spilled, he made a decision to run for mayor and announced that to Ross. She said she couldn't point the department toward a candidate, but she could endorse him personally, which she agreed to do. ("Crawl Out Through the Fallout")

At a campaign event with the Northeast Seattle Homeowner's Association, Travis helped people shelter in place when a tornado warning sounded. Once everyone was inside, Travis looked out the window, where he saw the tornado. He told everyone to stay down. After the storm had passed, Travis told everyone else to stay down while he checked to make sure it was over. He ended up directing a rescue effort to help Hallie, who was trapped in her car after being thrown by the tornado. When it was done, Dixon accused Travis of putting on a show to look good for the cameras. ("Twist and Shout") Vic said that candidates with steady partners polled betters and offered to try to set Travis up, though Travis was sure that rule didn't apply to gay men. ("Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey")

Travis became overwhelmed by the questionnaire he had to fill out to try to get the fire union's endorsement, because it highlighted his lack of political experience. Meanwhile, Maya and Ben responded to a domestic call at the Dixon house, after which Dixon insisted on them signing an NDA and said his lawyer would be in touch. ("Dancing With Our Hands Tied")

Travis tried to attract votes from firefighters by buying them drinks and talking to them at the bar. As they decorated the station for the Halloween party, Eli Stern came in to talk to Travis about becoming his campaign manager. Andy told him that Travis already had a campaign manager, but Eli said that while he could see that Vic was doing good work, it wasn't enough. He gave Travis his card. When Travis came back from a call, Eli went to talk to him. ("Demons")

As Travis's campaign picked up speed, Dixon leaked a story about Travis being arrested for public intoxication and the assault of a fellow firefighter. In light of this, Vic quit as Travis's campaign manager and told him to hire Eli. Eli told Travis that he needed to get serious about the campaign. ("Pick Up The Pieces")

When Eli learned about the Dixons' Crisis One call, he tried to persuade Travis to let him leak it. Travis said he didn't want to because it put the program and the people who responded to the call at risk. However, after Travis missed a meeting with the fire union where he was supposed to try to get their endorsement, he told Eli to leak the story. ("Everybody Says Don't") When the union agreed to give Travis another chance, Travis tried to get Eli not to leak the story, but Eli said he'd already put it in motion, but agreed to try. At the meeting, Travis told the fire union representatives that he wasn't a politician. He was a firefighter like them and and he would do his best to be there for them every time, but he might have to save someone from a fire first. ("We Build Then We Break")

Dixon threatened to sue the fire department over the leaked story. Sensing that Travis still wasn't fully committed to the campaign, Eli tried to get Andy's support, knowing that would go a long way in getting everyone at the station behind the campaign. ("I Know A Place")

Travis continued attending campaign events with Eli. ("Come As You Are") One day, they used Andy's apartment to do phone interviews, as there was construction by Travis's place. During the last interview, the host said that Dixon's campaign's polling showed they were in a dead heat and Travis was polling ahead of Robel Osman for the first time. Travis said he was humbled by the support, but the only poll that mattered was election day, so he'd continue to work to earn their votes. ("Even Better Than the Real Thing") Travis's poll numbers continued to rise. ("Could I Leave You?")

As election day approached, Travis started to have nightmares about winning the election. This culminated in a video of Travis on a call went viral. Eli said it could be the push Travis needed to win, though Travis reminded Eli that he never wanted that. He just wanted Dixon not to win. ("Never Gonna Give You Up") When the time came for the town hall, Travis practiced and prepared with Eli. While they were practicing, Dixon released an attack ad targeted at Travis. Eli said it was a good sign because it meant that Dixon was scared. Right before the town hall, Travis confronted Dixon about using Emmett to dig up dirt on him. During the town hall, Travis took a moment to repair a cable with a break, using it to tie back into his career as a firefighter solving problems before they got bigger. ("It's All Gonna Break")

Robel then came to the station with Eli because he said they were splitting the progressive vote, which opened the way for Dixon to win. He offered to concede to Travis in exchange for some assurances. Travis thought about this and then proposed that he concede to Robel instead, on the condition that he give Eli a job. Eli was horrified as Travis and Robel shook on their deal. ("Get It All Out")

Part of Travis's concession meant endorsing Robel and campaigning for him, so he continued to attend campaign events. ("What Are You Willing to Lose")

With only days to go before the election, Travis made sure all his friends were registered to vote. ("Dirty Laundry") On the day of, Station 19 was opened as a ballot drop off station. At the end of the day, the race was called for Robel. ("All These Things That I've Done")
