Myrna Schmitt is the mother of Levi Schmitt.
History[]
Meeting Nico[]
When Levi brought Nico home, Myrna checked on them and brought Levi some soup. When Levi said that Nico was his boyfriend and that Nico had a bad week, Myrna gave Nico the soup instead and told Levi they'd talk later. ("Jump Into the Fog")
Saul's Death[]
Myrna heard from a cousin that Saul was very close to death and told Levi that if he wanted to see Saul, he should go immediately. Levi went and after Saul died, he learned that Saul was gay and had a long-term boyfriend, Daniel Schwartz. Levi went home and started packing. He told Myrna that saying she accepted him meant nothing when she refused to let him tell anyone else in the family. This led him to decide to move out. ("The Last Supper")
Thanksgiving[]
On Thanksgiving, Myrna came to the hospital and brought food for Levi and Nico. She knew he was busy, so she said she would set it up and he could come eat whenever he had the time. Later in the day, Nico came to sit with her and eat because Levi was stuck in surgery and he didn't want her to be alone. She told Nico stories about Levi as they ate together. When Levi finally came to the cafeteria, Myrna went to leave, saying she'd already eaten. She invited both Nico and Levi to come visit her anytime. ("Everyday Is a Holiday (With You)")
Fall[]
When Devon Gomez died while Levi was operating on him, Levi quit the program and moved back in with his mom. He spent his days playing video games until Taryn came and told him the residency program was under review. He looked into the memes about it online and found out that his mother had posted many. They argued about it, with her saying that the residency program had broken him and him defending that he was the one who failed the program, not the other way around. While they were fighting, Myrna slipped on the basement stairs and fell, breaking her femoral neck and some ribs. Levi immediately called 911, then started treating her. When he decided the ambulance was taking too long, he called Richard, who talked him through a thoracostomy to relieve the pressure in her chest from what he thought was a tension pneumothorax. When he did so, he learned it was a hemopneumothorax. Firefighters then arrived and took Myrna to the hospital, where she was rushed into surgery. After her surgery, she was stable and Levi sat by her bedside. ("Put It to the Test")
Relationships[]
Familial[]
She and her son are very close. He lived in her basement and she weighed in on all the decisions he had to make. Following the death of his uncle Saul, Schmitt decided couldn't live with her anymore.
