Full Summary[]
Theo jogs outside at night.
Vic looks at herself in the bathroom mirror. She calls Theo.
Theo looks at his phone, but doesn't answer Vic's call.
Travis startles awake and screams. Vic comes in with a baseball bat. He says he was just having a bad dream. He won the election and then his teeth fell out. Vic says Freud would say he had unfulfilled sexual needs, but her psych teacher told her Freud was wrong about a lot of things. Travis thinks his dream was just because of stress. Vic gets it. He might not have a job after tomorrow. And that would put a damper on his campaign. Then Vic could quit in solidarity and they could make corn husk dolls. Travis tells her to leave and take the bat. He checks on his teeth.
Andy is looking through paperwork when there's a knock. It's Eli because they were supposed to go out. She tells him she lost track of time. She has him come in and tells him what happened at work. He says there are lots of mutinies in history that aren't called mutinies. They're called revolutions. She just needs to reframe the narrative. He says they should get takeout and she call tell him all about it.
In the locker room, they discuss the incident. They worry they'll all be fired. Sullivan says Beckett willingly went to the Center for Excellence, which will support their case. But it also works out for Beckett because he can't be fired for seeking help. Ben stands by what they did and so do the others. Vic would have done the same. Theo says the city isn't protecting them or the citizens and he's done. They can fire him. Ben asks Vic if he's okay, but Vic's not sure. Ross calls for them to line up.
Ross lectures them on a paramilitary structure and how breaking the chain of command is a mutiny. It calls for an investigation and calls for termination. Andy says it wasn't a mutiny. She cites a policy for the senior man assuming command in case a captain is incapacitated. They'd all attest that he wasn't of sound mind. Andy says it was a life-saving decision. The team gets called out and Ross says she'll be their captain.
Jack says it's weird that they got coordinates instead of an address. They want to ask where exactly, but they're too scared to ask Ross. Andy finally decides to ask. Ross says it's somewhere in the Cascades. Maya wonders if it was a hiking incident because she used to go there all the time. Ross says a TizTam star was filming there and fell. A fan saw the live feed and called it in. The star is Stella Trix. Travis knows her because she raised money for a charity. They watch the vide of her falling. Her cameraman fell, too.
Vic and Theo pack for inspections. They're going to mansions and yoga studios. Last time they went there, someone threatened to sue Vic for getting mud on her carpet. Vic asks Theo what's going on with him. He tells her that the arson investigation he requested was dismissed. They didn't even investigate.
At the scene, they get set up for the extraction. As they put on their suits, Maya wonders the last time the chief was captain of a station. They need to impress her.
At the entrance to a cave, they find a cell range signal booster, so they know they're on the right track. Ross tells them to explore in pairs. Travis is worried there are snakes in the caves.
Vic says they'd follow up on Theo's report if it were in the nicer neighborhood. They had just inspected the barbershop and it was up to code. There was no reason for the fire. Theo wants to drop it, but Vic says it isn't right. They decide to do their own investigation.
In the cave, they search for the two trapped people. They mark their way with glow sticks. Over the radio, they hear a request for backup at the Grey Sloan Memorial clinic protest. Sullivan and Ross conclude that the people they're looking for are most likely unconscious. Or dead, but Ross won't let him say that.
Ben hasn't gotten a response from Bailey and he's starting to worry. Reggie Paulson comes in in visible pain. Ben helps him into a chair as he says he has bad muscle cramps.
Ross and Sullivan make a plan to locate Stella using the flashlights and the feed, which is still live. Ross has them all turn off their lights.
Ross says they need one flashlight per pair. She has them walk forward until she is able to see a light on the feed, which they use to figure out where their victims are.
Theo and Vic are at the barbershop, which isn't even recognizable. They start looking for signs of arson. Vic is upset because Theo says it's a waste of time. Vic talks about her family's restaurant being burned. He says it's different because they rebuilt and the barbershop's going to end up being a coffee shop or something. Vic realizes he used to come there with his dad and it's one of the last places Theo has memories of him. And now it's gone. It's like his father's being erased. Theo asks Vic to look up pictures of common devices for them to look for.
They have everything set up. Andy and Sullivan are at the top to allow Maya and Travis to rappel down.
Ben gives Reggie oxygen. Reggie says he was cleaning his garage when he started to feel the pain. His blood pressure is high and he's wheezing, so Ben starts a nebulizer to help him breathe. The pain is all over his body. Ben says they'll figure it out. Plus, the hospital is right down the street. Reggie says he tried to get there, but someone drove their car into a crowd there, so he couldn't get near it.
Maya is rappelling down when she hears on the radio that several doctors were hit outside the clinic at Grey Sloan. She pauses and slips as she asks what they said. She's worried because Carina's at work. Ross tells her to take a breath and stay focused. Maya asks her to find out what's happening. Ross says she will, but Maya is part of a team right now.
Ben tries to call Bailey, but gets no answer. Reggie gags and vomits into a bucket. Reggie's abdomen is tender and rigid, confusing Ben. He decides to call Seattle Pres after not getting an answer at Grey Sloan.
Travis tells Maya Carina will be fine. She says he doesn't know that. He tells her to pull it together and Ross tells her she needs to focus on what she's doing, because she's not a wife right now. She's a first responder with a job to do. She can't do anything at the hospital right now. Maya says okay. She and Travis continue their descent.
Ben explains the situation over the phone. He notices a new mark on Reggie's arm. He removes Reggie's watch and finds a spider bite mark. He thinks it was a Black Widow. He goes to look for antivenom, but Reggie collapses, so Ben rushes to him.
Down in the cave, Travis and Maya find Stella and Brenton. A stokes basket won't fit, so they're sending a KED. Travis examines Brenton, who is bleeding from a head injury, while Maya goes to Stella, who regains consciousness. Maya explains to her what happened and says they're there to help. Brenton wakes up as well and Travis warns him not to move. As Maya is examining Stella, Stella asks if the stream is still going. Brenton's ankle is seriously injured, but he tells them to take Stella up first. Stella tells them to take him because she needs to find her phone before she can go. As they load Brenton into the KED, Stella starts talking to her followers about the rescue. Brenton is hoisted out of the cave.
Reggie complains of pain in his head. Ben tells him the aid car will be there soon. They can't wait though. Ben leaves Reggie to get some antivenom.
Maya climbs back up. She asks if there's any news from Grey Sloan. Ross says there are no reported casualties and that's all she knows. Ross tells Travis to send Stella up. Brenton asks if Stella's going to be okay. He says he's her boyfriend, but they've had to keep it secret because her platform is her being single and on adventures. They've been together for seven years. Sullivan says he won't tell anyone. He tells Brenton they have to reset his ankle. Brenton says he's not even a camera guy. He learned how to do it for her. He's done everything for her, but can't post any pictures of them. He can't even hold her hand in public. He asks if they could live like that. Sullivan and Ross look at each other and says they're not sure. They reset Brenton's ankle.
As Travis loads Stella up, she spots her phone and tries to grab it. To placate her, Travis goes to get it for her. She says her fans are all she has. She sees that it's still live and starts talking to her fans. Travis says she's ready to go up.
Theo and Vic look around. Theo finds a sponge which could have been used to soak up an accelerant. They take a picture. Theo rants about people being bullied out of their homes and shops. If they hadn't changed their plans for the day, no one would be looking out for Tomás. Theo still has Vic call to report what they found.
As they're pulling Stella up, she says her followers need to see it. She ignores Travis's objections and moves around, leading to her hitting her head on the cave wall.
Ross gets Maya ready to reach down for Stella. From below, Travis tells Stella she needs to listen or she won't get out of there. She's still worried about her phone. Brenton tells her to forget about it. She says that's all she has. Brenton says she has him, her boyfriend. Stella tells him the phone is still live. Travis picks up the phone and shows it to her. He tells her to reach up and grab Maya's hand. She is unable to do that because she's worried about her phone. Travis tells her he's seen some of her videos and he was under the impression that she's kind. That's not what he's seeing because she's putting her rescuers' lives in danger. He tells her to be the person she presents herself as online and have some respect. He tells her to reach up and take Maya's hand. She does so and Maya pulls her up.
Ben struggles to get the cabinet open. Reggie tells him there's a jar of money in the garage. It's for his wife. He's been saving it there for over twenty years so he could surprise his wife with a trip to Italy. He asks Ben if he's going to see his wife again and says he doesn't want to die. Ben tells him he had to believe he'll make it like Ben has to believe his wife is okay. He finds the antivenom. He explains that it'll be unpleasant, but Reggie says nothing could be worse than how he already feels. Ben injects it.
Once Stella is up, they check her out. She says she feels fine. Travis gives her her phone. Brenton can't believe she did that. Stella can't wait to see the comments. Brenton is upset. Stella says they heard what he said about them being together and they like it. She wants them to post a selfie. Brenton says he can't live like this anymore. She doesn't want to be with him to be with him. She wants to be with him now to boost her followers. He's tired of being in second place with her. He chose her, but she also chose her. And she chose her fans. She never chooses him. He says he's done.
The arson team takes pictures of Tomás's barbershop.
They get Stella and Brenton out and to aid cars. Stella continues streaming and talking to her followers.
An arson dog indicates something to the handler.
Sullivan tells Ross they worked well together today. In the back, Maya says Carina isn't picking up her phone. Travis is texting Ben. Maya asks if there's any news on the radio. Ross says no, but there's a detour around Grey Sloan, so they'll have to go the long way. Maya tells her to let her out. They're only ten blocks from the hospital, so it'll be faster if she runs. Ross tells Sullivan to let her out.
Captain Vinnie says it's a classic case of arson, but he can see how it was missed. Theo says it shouldn't have been. Now there will be an investigation, but it'll be a slow process. Vic asks him to check on the other recent fires in the area. He says there has to be a reason. Vic says all the places had offers to purchase their lots from the same company. They couldn't buy them out, so they burned them out. He says that's a bold accusation. Theo says it's personal for him. He grew up there and he just wants the neighborhood to get the same attention other places would. Vinnie says he'll see what he can do.
Reggie says he feels fine, but Ben tells him to go to the hospital to get checked out anyway. He also tells Reggie to tell his wife he loves her. And about the money. And take her on the trip because tomorrow isn't promised. Once Reggie's gone, Ben texts Bailey again.
Eli celebrates the footage of Travis going viral. This will push Travis over the finish line. They need to capitalize on it. Travis tells Eli no. He's not sleeping or eating. He didn't want to win. He just wanted Dixon not to win. He leaves Eli to get back to work.
Ross finds Andy, who is unloading gear. Ross commends Andy for her pushing for what's right. She offers Andy the acting captain position while Beckett is gone. Andy says when she takes command of 19, she doesn't want it to be temporary. She says Sullivan deserves it more than anyone else.
Theo and Vic unpack and Vic shows Theo that she took the framed dollar from the barbershop. She thinks Theo should be the one to give it to Tomás.
Bailey doesn't answer Ben's call. Ross calls for the team to line up, but Ben runs out the front door instead.
Ross tells the team she was worried she would see a team that can't follow orders, but instead, she saw a team that worked well together and had each other's backs. While Beckett is gone, they'll need a trusted leader. She offers the position to Theo. Theo says he'll do it. Travis celebrates with him.
Ben runs to the hospital.

Rescues[]
Stella Trix[]
Station 19 was called out to a set of coordinates in the Cascades. A TizTam star, Stella Trix, was streaming from there and fell. One of her followers saw it and called it in. They arrived at the scene and set up a wench to pull up the fallen star and her cameraman. They found a cell range signal booster at the entrance to a cave, indicating they were in the right place. They entered the cave and explored in pairs. Since the stream was still active, they used their flashlights to figure out where in the cave Stella and Brenton, the cameraman, were. Travis and Maya then went down where they'd fallen. While Maya was rappelling down, she heard on the radio that some doctors were injured outside the hospital, so she panicked, thinking Carina might be injured, which led to her falling a few times. Ross got her to calm down and they finished rappelling. They found Stella and Brenton. Ross sent down a Kendrick extrication device. Stella and Brenton woke up and Maya and Travis examined them. Brenton had a severely injured ankle, a possible dislocation, and needed immediate attention because there was no blood flow to his foot. Despite this, he tried to insist on them taking Stella up first. Stella said she couldn't leave without her phone. Once Brenton was up, they started treating his injuries. Then they went to get Stella, but she ended up hitting her head when she moved while being pulled up in an attempt to continue talking to her followers. Travis told her to be the considerate person she appeared to be in her videos and think about the people rescuing her, whose lives she was endangering. He was able to get her to reach up and grab Maya's hand so she could be pulled up. Once she was up, she was assessed and then she and Brenton were carried out of the cave and put into aid cars.
Reggie Paulson[]
Reggie came into station 19 with serious muscle cramps in his body. Ben gave him oxygen and examined him. Reggie's blood pressure was high and he was wheezing, so Ben gave him a nebulizer. He told Ben he'd tried to get to the hospital, but a car ran through a crowd there, so he wasn't able to get to it. As he took the nebulizer, Reggie started to gag and vomited. When he flinched upon Ben touching him, Ben discovered that his abdomen was rigid. Ben noticed a mark on his arm and removed his watch to reveal a spider bite mark. Ben believed it was a Black Widow and said they had antivenom. As he went to get it, Reggie collapsed to the floor. Ben called for an aid car and then went to get the antivenom. He warned Reggie that it would be uncomfortable and then injected it. Once it was in, Reggie's symptoms improved. Ben told him to go the hospital anyway to make sure he was okay.
