As Cristina was unable to remember how to perform an open appendectomy, she went to the skills lab where April had left the interns to practice their whip stitches. She chose Nina to talk her through it, but Nina couldn't remember what to do after having cross-clamped the appendix at the base. Cristina told her her patient would be dead by the time she remembered, making Nina cry.
