Paul Adelstein played Cooper Freedman in Private Practice. His character also appeared in season three of Grey's Anatomy. He also directed two episodes of Private Practice.
Biography
Paul was born to a Reform Jewish family. Prior to his professional acting career, Adelstein attended the progressive Francis W. Parker School, then Bowdoin College where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with a degree in English.
He is the lead singer and guitarist of the band "Doris" and attended Bowdoin College where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with a degree in English. He began his career in theater, working with New Crime Productions, a company founded by John Cusack, and later with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
Paul Adelstein got engaged to Liza Weil in May 2006 and they married that November. Paul and Liza welcomed a baby girl on April 20, 2010, Josephine Elizabeth Weil-Adelstein. In March 2016 after 10 years of marriage, Weil filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

- Paul was originally cast as the character of Preston Burke in Grey's Anatomy before Isaiah Washington, but had to turn down the role when filming of the film Be Cool got extended.
