Ray Daniels is a bicyclist whose career was cut short by a heart condition.
History[]
Ray came into Pacific Wellcare Center looking for treatment for his knee injury. He'd been a professional cyclist, but retired five years prior. However, he was hoping to make a big comeback. At the patients' welcome breakfast, Sam and Pete approached him and convinced him to come back to Oceanside Wellness Group with them in order to work on his knee. However, while they were working with him, his wife came in and said that he had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and wasn't supposed to be riding. He planned the comeback because they'd lost their house and didn't have any money. He hadn't been able to find a job and didn't know how to do anything but race.
Pete and Sam did research to try to make it as safe as possible for Ray. He was able to ride for ten miles with no pain. However, when he left, Pete advised him not to race. However, Ray insisted that he was going to win and then he and his wife would have the money they needed.
During the race, Sam and Pete monitored his heart rate over the internet. He won the race and his heart rate was stable until after he crossed the finish line, at which point, he became unstable. When Sam and Pete arrived at the hospital, they found out that he had been pronounced dead and was in the morgue.
