Rigo Vasquez was a firefighter at Station 19.
History[]
Early Life[]
Captain Pruitt Herrera recruited Rigo out of junior college. Captain Herrera was there when Rigo's father passed. ("Satellite of Love")
Rogers' Five and Dime[]
While Andy was out on her mandatory week off, Rigo worked with A shift, though there was a lot of tension between him and the rest of the team. When they responded to a fire at Roger's Five and Dime, he jumped in without waiting for instructions, even as Ben was prepared to give some at the triage area. Later, when they went to celebrate at the bar, Rigo showed up looking for his wife. ("Indoor Fireworks")
Carbon Monoxide Leak[]
Rigo was on Aid Car with Andy and they responded to a bridal shop, where Shauna had passed out and hit her head. They suspected carbon monoxide poisoning and tested the air to confirm it. They got Shauna out and her condition improved, but they couldn't take her to the hospital because Andy noticed smoke coming out of a manhole cover. When the rest of station 19 arrived to help, Rigo was upset to be pulled off aid car to evacuate the street. He saw a manhole cover and decided to pull it off over Jack's orders. Jack pulled him away just in time and then benched him for the rest of the call, saying he couldn't trust Rigo. ("Eulogy")
New Captain[]
Rigo made several remarks during Maya's first day as captain, some indicating his distaste for having a female captain. Despite this, he followed orders and participated in the group workout and drills. ("House Where Nobody Lives")
Camping Trip[]
Rigo brought his wife on the camping trip Maya had planned to build morale. He was annoyed at the mandated fun. When another couple out camping was attacked by a bear Rigo and the rest of the team stepped in to help. Rigo was suspicious when he saw Jack and Eva emerge from the woods at the same time, but didn't confront them on it because of the attack. He later helped carry Rachel Burke down out of the woods to the parking lot so she could be taken to the hospital. ("Into the Woods")
Kelly[]
At some point, he went on a call with Andy where they had to save a woman, Kelly, who was choking in her backyard. When they arrived, Andy was quickly dibbled when she noticed a raccoon nearby and started freaking out. Rigo took over and did the Heimlich on Kelly, saving her life. Back in the Aid Car, he and Andy laughed about what had happened. ("Something About What Happens When We Talk")
Tension with Jack and Injury[]
After Rigo learned that Jack had slept with Eva, things became very tense between them. It came to a head during the blizzard when Rigo beat up Jack. Because of this, the rest of the team learned that Jack had slept with Eva, something they considered a huge betrayal. ("Ice Ice Baby")
Maya decided not to fire Jack because of what he'd done, but called the two of them into their office to apologize and assure her they could work together. Rigo was unable to apologize to Jack, but apologized to Maya for not waiting until he was off the clock to beat Jack up. They went out on a call soon afterward and while working together to put out some small fires in a food truck lot, Jack tried to stop Rigo from approaching a tank of liquid oxygen. Rigo ignored him and when Jack tried to pull him back, he dropped a fire extinguisher, which sparked an explosion that eviscerated Rigo. Ben stepped in from the PRT to operate on Rigo's abdomen and save his life. He was able to use REBOA to stabilize him and then he was driven to the hospital. ("Satellite of Love")
Eva was told he was stable after his surgery and he was later able to come off the ventilator. ("Born to Run") Because he was responsible for Rigo's accident, Griffin Ford offered to cover all his medical expenses. ("Life on Mars?")
Death[]
On the day of his discharge out of the hospital, Rigo threw a pulmonary embolism and died. ("Poor Wandering One", "Give a Little Bit")
Andy's Dream[]
After Pruitt's death, Andy dreamed that Rigo told her he never had a dad, especially one like hers. He also told Jack he wasn't a bad guy. Andy was confused as to why Jack was in her dream because he wasn't dead. He then told her they were all orphans. ("Dream a Little Dream of Me")
Jack's Hallucination[]
On Halloween, Jack hallucinated Rigo throughout the day. He imagined Rigo taunting him over his relationship with Eva and then Rigo telling him he wasn't at fault for Rigo's death. He also told Jack that he deserved love and happiness. When Jack went to the station to see Pru, Rigo nodded at him. ("Demons")

Romantic[]
He was married to Eva Vasquez until his death.
