Ryan is a child who was born with no external ears.
History[]
Ryan was at the hospital on Halloween and looking for Mark Sloan. He was born with the internal structure to hear, but no external ear, so he wanted Mark to build him ears for free. Mark offered his time, but he said they needed other things. He didn't have the social capital to ask for those things, so Meredith took Ryan around the hospital to trick or treat for all the things he needed. They were able to get together a whole team and Mark reconstructed his ears.
