Sarah was pregnant. Her baby had been diagnosed in utero with hypoplastic left-heart syndrome and needed a heart transplant shortly after birth. When a heart became available, they delivered the baby four weeks early and rushed her into her transplant surgery. Despite a complication, the transplant was successful and Sarah and Colin were able to see their baby in the NICU after her surgery.
