Shara Freeman is a woman who had surgery to remove scar tissue on the pro bono surgery day.
Shara came to the hospital on a day when Meredith had coordinated a pro bono surgery day. She had a history of abdominal wall sarcoma, which left her with painful scar tissue. After Shara's surgery was delayed, her daughter, Caitlin, became upset with Meredith. Meredith tried to reassure her. When it was delayed a second time, Meredith announced that they had permission to extend the day until everyone had gotten their surgery and they'd be doing more days, one per month.
Shara's daughter, Caitlin, was very concerned with her getting the surgery she needed to relieve her pain.
