Shawn is the boyfriend of Elena Debray.
History[]
Shawn's girlfriend, Elena, was in a coma after a car accident. She'd been in the coma for eight months, during which she went through an entire pregnancy. Shawn felt guilty about the accident because he made Elena laugh, which caused her to look away from the road.
When Elena went into labor, he wanted her to labor and delivery vaginally, because he heard about a case where that woke up a woman in a coma. However, because the baby was breech, Addison recommended a c-section. When they found out that Shawn and Elena weren't married and therefore, it was her parents' decision, her parents asked Addison to do the c-section. However, as Addison prepared for the surgery, Shawn filed a petition as guardian of the fetus and got an injunction.
Judge McLennan was called in to rule on the case and after hearing all the sides, he told Shawn he could either withdraw his objections or be ruled against. He chose to allow them to do the c-section. Elena died during the surgery, but the baby lived. Addison handed her off to her father, who took her back into the OR so that she could meet her mother.
