Shirley Hall is the mother of Jessica Hall.
History[]
Shirley's daughter, Jessica, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and put on the transplant list. At one point, over Sunday dinner, Jessica's boyfriend, Ryan Jenkins, offered to donate a lung. Shirley replied by asking if he'd finally finished his degree. Shirley was not a fan of Ryan's because he met her daughter in feminist studies class and she figured men only major in that class to meet women.
On the day of Jessica's scheduled transplant, Shirley checked with the doctors if Jessica shouldn't stay on the transplant list for a double transplant. Maggie pointed out that they had been waiting for two years already and the single lung would prevent Jessica from further deteriorating into heart failure. Shirley then remarked that Ryan was late for surgery. Later, Winston Ndugu came to Jessica's room to inform her and Shirley that Ryan was down in the ER after having been involved in an accident. Upon hearing that he needed surgery for thoracic injuries, Shirley inquired if they meant his heart or his lungs and also wondered how fast he had been driving. Jessica couldn't believe she was actually asking that. The doctors informed them Ryan might not be able to donate that day, or ever, depending on the outcome of the surgery. To properly process the news, Jessica threw her mother out of the room.
