Simone and Trey's Wedding is the wedding of Simone Griffith and Trey Delgado.
Timeline[]
Months after they broke up because Simone was pushed out of her first residency, Trey came to Seattle to see her. ("All Star") Trey and Simone argued because she felt that he didn't stand up for her like he should have, while he said he didn't have the power to do that as an intern. When they finished fighting, she apologized for disappearing on him and they started making out. Trey later told Simone that the program she was in was beneath her and she should come back to their program. Simone was angered and walked off.
Simone was making out with Lucas in her room when Trey knocked on the door. He apologized and promised to be better for her. He even offered to move to Seattle to be with her, though he knew his family would disapprove. They decided to reset things and he proposed to her. She accepted. ("Love Don't Cost a Thing")
Mika asked to officiate the wedding, but Simone said she hardly knew her. ("Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves") Simone and Trey began to plan their wedding over FaceTime after her went back home. After a call discussing venues, Simone told Trey she wanted to get married within the next month so her grandmother could be part of it. She also wanted to have the ceremony in her grandmother's backyard. Trey agreed to that. ("Training Day")
While Trey asked his brother to be his best man, Simone struggled to find a maid of honor for herself. She asked Jules, but Jules declined. After treating a difficult patient together, Simone decided to ask Lucas to be her man of honor despite their history and he accepted. ("Cowgirls Don't Cry")
Simone became irritated when Jules made disparaging comments about marriage being a distraction, which she felt were targeted at her. Jules said that that was just her experience, but Simone could make her own decisions for her life. Finally, Simone vented to Jules about how the wedding was a pain and how the dress shop wanted her to come get measured, but she didn't have time to do that and she couldn't ask Lucas to measure her. Jules started taking Simone's measurements for her. The interns then all tasted cakes together. ("Shadow of Your Love") When Lucas could no longer handle the pressure of being Simone's man of honor due to his feelings for her, he made a deal for Jules to take over. ("Gunpowder and Lead") Simone found out about this change when Jules came to her and said that Lucas had given her notes with wedding tasks on them, but she would only do what Simone texted her to do. Simone told Jules she shouldn't have asked Lucas in the first place, but she wanted to go through it with someone who knows her, so Jules set out to prove that she knew Simone. ("Come Fly With Me")
After Simone got her dress, Mika made alterations to it. While the interns worked in the skills lab, Mika told Simone she was coming to the wedding though she hadn't sent the card. She hadn't planned to bring a plus one and the wedding was that weekend, though Simone encouraged her to ask Taryn to go. When Lucas learned that he likely had ADHD that had never been diagnosed, he went to Simone and said that one of the symptoms was overthinking and having trouble saying what you want to say. He asked Simone not to get married because he believed that Trey saw an old version of her while he saw the new one and loved her for it. ("Ready to Run")
On the day of the wedding, Trey surprised Simone by coming to her room in the morning. When Simone learned that one of her patients Tobey Barrett, was having surgery that day, she went to the hospital to ask Lucas to look after her, as she wasn't going to be there to do it. She also told him she knew she had a connection with Lucas, but Trey loved her and what they'd built together deserved a chance.
At Simone's grandma's house, Trey panicked because he'd told the florist the wrong date and they would have no flowers. Taryn and Mika told him they would take care of it and went in search of flowers.
Jules helped Simone get into her dress as Simone talked about missing the mom she never got to know. She also said that a red robin had perched on a branch near her and Trey while they were on their first date, which she took as a sign from her mom as robins were her favorite bird. As they worked, a robin flew into the window of the house. Then Jules went to zip the dress and tore it. Simone's father, Dewayne, went to get a sewing kit.
While Jules fixed the dress, Joyce came in to talk to Simone, though she believed Simone was her mother, Denise. She inadvertently revealed to Simone that her mother had almost married someone else before marrying her father.
Dewayne prepared to walk Simone down the aisle, but she got stuck on one of the thorns from her bouquet and got blood on the dress. Jules helped her position the flowers to hide the blood and the wedding continued. Simone decided to ask her father about what Joyce had said. He admitted that it was true. Simone decided to leave the wedding and went to the hospital, where she told Lucas she didn't get married. Simone and Lucas went to an on-call room and had sex. ("Wedding Bell Blues") Afterward, Simone said she didn't want to leave the moment, but they had to when Lucas was paged away. They were shocked when Trey came into the ER, having been in a car accident on his way to the hospital to find Simone. When Trey saw Simone with Lucas, he realized what had happened and punched Lucas. Simone assured Trey that she never cheated on him and she didn't leave him for Lucas. She left him because she realized she wasn't the person he'd fallen in love with anymore. Trey still wanted them to make things work, but she told him she didn't want that. ("Happily Ever After?")
