Full Summary[]
Vic, Travis, and Emmett watch a movie together. Travis pulls away when Emmett puts a hand on his thigh, so Emmett gets up to get some popcorn. Once he's out of the room, Travis pauses the movie and asks if Vis's sure she doesn't want him to be there, as kind of an abortion doula. She agrees that he would be the best abortion doula, but says it's something she and Theo need to do together. Travis says Theo accused him of avoiding his own relationship by getting involved in theirs. Vic has noticed that Travis can't stand to be alone with Emmett, but says she hasn't mentioned it because she figured he wasn't ready. He knows that's not true because she's not the wait until you're ready kind of friend. She asks if he wants to talk about it now, but he doesn't. He turns the movie back on and tells Vic to call him during the abortion if she needs him.
Sullivan and Ross walk down the street together, talking about how he ordered their meals in Spanish. She's glad they finally went out, but he reminds her they did it before. They talk about their history and how things were between them. Sullivan thinks they're just good together. As he has her up against a wall, she spots Beckett walking toward them. Beckett is carrying two bags full of alcohol. Ross says she's having sit-downs with all the leadership within the department. Someone from her office will reach out to Beckett about it soon. Beckett says good night and leaves. Sullivan and Ross agree that that wasn't good.
Maya and Carina are down to the final two candidates to be their sperm donor. Each of the makes the case for their pick. Carina says her pick's baby picture looks like Andrew, to which Maya says that Carina's going to carry and it'll be her egg. Carina asks if Maya wants to carry. Maya doesn't, but she does think she should win this one. She just likes her pick better. And using Carina's choice won't guarantee that their baby is a genius. Carina says it doesn't really matter then, so Maya wants to know why they can't just use hers. Carina asks if they're back to step one. Maya says they aren't, but they're both late for work. She says they'll talk about it later and kisses Carina goodbye.
Ben comes into Beckett's office and tells him he's had his final session with Diane, so he's cleared to return to full duty. Beckett says he can do that once Diane calls and tells Beckett herself. Ben also thanks him for not writing him up about the sutures. Beckett's not interested and just tells him to fix it. He tells Ben not to let this define the rest of his career.
As Ben exits the office, Andy walks past him and enters. He's happy to have her on shift and asks if he'll have trouble keeping her in line like Maya and Sullivan. Andy says she's a team player. Andy starts to ask him something, but stops herself and leaves the office.
Jack enters the station and sees Andy leaving Beckett's office. She tells him she's there to sub for Vic, but he wants to know why she was in Beckett's office. They take turns judging each other for the poor decisions and agree to keep quiet about each other's exploits.
Vic and Theo wait in the exam room. Vic's not sure what to talk about while they wait. Carina comes in and apologizes for being late. She has to do a final ultrasound, but turns the monitor away and turns off the sound so Vic doesn't have to hear anything. While Carina works, Vic starts to sing to herself. She confirms that Vic is at five and a half weeks. She explains what she's giving Vic in the office, the first medication. She asks Vic to stay in the office for an hour so she can check her blood pressure before she goes home becuase of her cardiac issues. She also asks Vic to page her if she feels sick because vomiting can negate the effects. Vic takes the pill and Carina leaves, saying she'll come back later. Once she's gone, Vic asks what wine pairs best with an abortion. Theo says she doesn't have to joke, but that's who she is. He can leave if he wants to.
An hour later, Carina returns. She takes Vic's blood pressure, then gives her the four pills to take at home with instructions on how to take them. She tells Vic to call her if anything feels off. Vic goes to change her clothes and says it'll just be a lot of sitting around, so he can go if he wants to. He says he wants to sit around with her, despite her insistence that she'll be fine. He did some reading. Vic is surprised that he's telling her and her OB how a medical abortion works. She realizes what she's done and apologizes to him and clarifies that she just meant he doesn't have to stay. He tells her he wants to stay.
Ben roughly loads equipment into the engine. Jack tells him to take it easy. Jack's surprised that Ben is still upset after his sessions with Diane. Ben insisted that he doesn't and didn't need help. Jack points out that he's yelling at his lieutenant and at work. He knows something is still up with Ben. Ben says everyone is a mess, but he's the only one in trouble. As Ben walks away, Sullivan approaches. He's also concerned about Ben and asks Jack if he's seen Beckett, which he hasn't.
Andy and Travis are working out in the gym when Maya comes in. It's weird to have Andy there as a sub. Maya thinks Andy would be captain of 19 now if they hadn't stormed McCallister's office. She says they're down to two in the donor search, but they don't like each other's picks. If they use Carina's, the baby will be all DeLuca and no Bishop. She doesn't want to use her egg and she doesn't want to be pregnant right now, but she does wish the baby had both of them, not just Carina and some random guy. Andy wonders if Maya really thinks she'd be captain by now. Maya says yes, if she'd gotten promoted to Battalion Chief like she was on track to. Travis says technically Maya jumped Andy in line. The klaxons got off with a call for Crisis One. Travis says he hopes Maya and Carina find their sperm as he and Andy leave.
Vic lines the four tablets up on the counter. When her timer goes off, she takes them. Theo comes in with everything he bought to help Vic get through the day. He's upset that she already took the second round of pills as he thought she was going to wait for him. He asks why she doesn't want him in her life, because she keeps doing things to push him away. He's in the relationship, but she doesn't believe there is one, because they still wouldn't be speaking if she hadn't found out she was pregnant. Theo says that's Vic's doing. They argue over it. Theo says he's trying to be there for her despite his own feelings. She asks what his feelings are, but he says if she wanted to know, she would have already asked.
Travis and Andy arrive to find Harry sitting in his car. He insists that he's fine, but Travis says a neighbor called and said he was yelling and pacing on his lawn. He says now he's in his own car in front of his own house. He doesn't need their help. Travis looks inside the car and sees a liquor bottle and a container of gasoline. Harry says it's been him and his wife. Travis wants them to call her together. Harry picks up his phone and calls her, but she immediately starts yelling about how he's embarrassing her, so he hangs up and starts pouring the gasoline on himself over Travis's objections.
Travis tries to get Harry to open his door, but he refuses and instead pulls out a lighter. Travis steps back. Harry starts choking on the fumes, so Travis persuades him to open the door so he can breathe a little easier. Gas spills out as he does. Travis gets Harry to talk about his work, though Harry insists he knows that trick and won't fall for it. Harry says he wrote his dissertation on Noël Coward.
Andy and Emmett walk toward the aid car. Andy says they need to call for the engine before he lights himself on fire. Emmett is worried about them spooking him, but Andy says they'll need the engine to hose him down. She sends Travis's turnout jacket with Emmett, saying she won't put a firefighter at risk. Then she calls for no lights or sirens for backup.
Sullivan asks what Maya is studying and she says the bylaws. Beckett comes in asking if anyone can recommend a good Spanish tapas place. Sullivan asks Maya what the bylaws say about a firefighter suspected of drinking on the job. She recites what would happened and Beckett asks about a firefighter trading sexual favors for promotions. Just hypothetically, he says, before Maya can answer. After Beckett leaves, Maya asks what that was, but Sullivan brushes it off. Maya says they could pick a donor and that donor could be Beckett. They then rush to answer a call.
Theo and Vic walk because the book Theo read said it would be good for the cramps. He read a book and maybe the entire internet to prepare for the day. Vic asks Theo about his feelings on the matter. He admits that he had a stray thought that she'd make a great mom, but he doesn't want her to keep it. Vic says she might want to be a mom someday, but not right now. Theo says he's a bit sad about it. Vic says ever since she first started having sex, she knew she would go straight for an abortion if she got pregnant, but this is harder than she thought it would be. Theo says it's all just hard parts. His mom had one. She found out she was pregnant right after his dad died. Her sisters tried to persuade her to keep it, saying it was a gift from God after the death of her husband, but she had the abortion anyway. Her sisters didn't talk to her for a long time. Theo tried to tell her it wasn't a sin, but she doesn't think she ever forgave herself. Vic doubles over in pain and Theo starts to lead her back home.
Vic sits on the toilet in her still torn up bathroom. She asks Theo, who is outside the bathroom, to play some happy music. The pain is really bad. Theo plays Shake Your Groove thing on his phone. They talk about losing their virginities and agree it wasn't good for either of them. He asks if she needs anything and she asks him to sing. He's a horrible singer and she needs him to feel a tiny bit of the humiliation she's feeling. He starts to sing. She opens the bathroom door and hugs him. She says there are a lot of blood clots coming out. She knows the pain is clots passing through her cervix. He knows all about it because of the two books he read. Vic runs back into the bathroom and sits back on the toilet. Theo starts to say he loves her, but stops himself and says he's going to make some tea.
The engine arrives, which agitates Harry. Travis says it's just a precaution, but promises not to let them near Harry. He asks what Harry wants to do. Harry wants to be happily married still. He and his wife were married for 25 years until yesterday, she told him it was over. She said it was long time coming, but he didn't know anything was wrong. He's not sure how long she knew something wrong or why she didn't tell him. She made all the decisions by herself without including him in anything. He wonders how long ago she left him mentally. Travis asks what he wants to do and he says he doesn't know. He just wants to do something she has no say in. Travis says there are better ways to take back control. Harry goes to light the lighter, but Travis stops him and asks him to step out of the car. Nearby, Maya and Sullivan wait with fire extinguishers. Harry says Travis doesn't understand, but Travis does. He's falling out of love with someone and hasn't told him. And he feels awful about it and knows Harry's wife would feel awful, too, if she understood what she'd done. Harry tells Travis that the lighter is engraved. It was a wedding present from his wife. Harry then lights the lighter and drops it at his feet.
As Harry is engulfed in flames, Maya and Sullivan step forward to put him out with the other firefighters get the hose on him. He falls back and lies still as Andy tends to him once the fire is out. They get Harry onto a stretcher and to the aid car. Travis picks up the lighter then looks at Emmett, who looks back briefly before looking away.
On the way to the hospital, Travis asks how bad that was. Andy says he handled Harry pretty well, but what he said about Emmett was less great. Despite this, Andy says he's not a horrible person. Travis says he didn't mean to bring up old crap between her and Maya, but Andy says it's not old crap. It's relevant because she's still trapped in a game of her own doing. She tells Travis to call Emmett and apologize.
Back at the station, they wind the hoses back up. Ben apologizes to Sullivan, Jack, and Maya for his behavior. He says he's been acting like setting himself on fire won't take all of them out. He's been trying to control what he can control because he couldn't control what happened with Dean. Everything feels so close, yet unattainable to him. He's trying to get it, but it's not working for him. He's going to stop. Jack says therapy works.
Beckett finds Sullivan in the equipment room and offers a truce. He's been hitting the bottle a little hard lately, but he would never drink on the job. Sullivan asks why there was whiskey in his office. Beckett asks if Sullivan is spying on him for his girlfriend. Sullivan says she's not his girlfriend. Beckett says he doesn't have any proof, but neither does Sullivan. Beckett says Sullivan can tells Ross he's free any day except Wednesday for dinner, because he has a date with a flight attendant.
Theo helps Vic get into bed and gives her a heating pad. He has everything she might need on the night stand for her. Vic says she never didn't want Theo in her life. She didn't want to be in her own life because when Dean died, she had to face the grief of losing Ripley and her grandmother and her drama teacher all at once. And now her body is grieving something she didn't even want. The hormones in her body are making it hard to handle anything. She apologizes for hurting Theo. He leans forward and hugs her.
Andy asks Ben when they have Pru next and he says the Millers are supposed to be dropping her off today, but they're late. Andy doesn't think the Millers should have Pru at all.
Out in the entryway, Jack is holding Pru and talking to Anna about being a firefighter. When Pru sees Ben and Andy, she runs to them. Ben asks Anna who she is and Anna explains that the Millers have been struggling with Pru, so they hired her as a part-time nanny. She went to school with Yemi back in the day. Anna leaves to go to band rehearsal. Ben has Pru say goodbye and leaves with her. Once they're gone, Andy and Jack talk about him falling for inappropriate people. He says Andy does the same thing, but Andy reminds him how much that cost her. They both need to grow up and stop it. They want to help each other and not sleep with anyone. Diane keeps recommending that he take a period of abstinence, but he can't do it, even though he's done everything else she's suggested. They agree to no sex and no flirting.
Sullivan walks with Richard and tells him about Beckett. Richard says that doesn't mean he's drinking on the job. Most drunks just like to know the bottle is near. He asks if Sullivan has told Ross. He hasn't because telling her would be reporting Beckett, who will then expose him and Ross. She's the best thing that's happened to him in a long time. She promoted him based on his history and Beckett's accusing him of trading sexual favors. He's not sleeping with her yet, but he would like to. Richard suggests that Sullivan help him get sober. If he's drinking on the job, he's got alcoholism, so Sullivan needs to offer a hand the way a hand was offered to him. That way, he's doing the right thing and protecting himself.
Maya finds Carina at work and gives her coffee. Then she tells Carina she doesn't want to use either of their picks and instead wants to use someone they know, so that's one less thing they're leaving up to chance. Carina asks if Maya means her brother, but Maya says no, she just wants to know more than they can know buying sperm from a stranger. She doesn't have a particular person in mind, but says they can brainstorm together. They have a lot more to talk about, but Maya wanted Carina to know it was not about her winning. They agree to talk later.
Travis comes home and asks Theo how Vic is doing. Theo says she's sleeping. It was brutal and it's still happening, but she's okay. He and Vic as a couple are good, too. Theo asks how Travis's shift was and Travis tells him what happened and says Emmett won't return his phone calls. Theo asks if Travis wants Emmett to return his phone calls. Travis says he can't be the guy who breaks Emmett's heart twice. Theo says that's not a good enough reason. Travis says he does love Emmett and doesn't want to hurt him. Theo tells Travis to call him. Travis does that.
Theo puts tea on the nightstand, then crawls in next to Vic. She tells him she loves him. She turns toward him and they hold each other face to face. He says he loves her too and they kiss.

Crisis One was sent to 2046 Center Street. Travis, Andy, and Emmett arrived to find Harry sitting in his car. His neighbors had reported him yelling and pacing in his yard. Travis talked to him, then had him call his wife, Susan, who immediately started yelling at him for making a scene. He then pulled out a gas container and poured a large amount on himself. He then pulled out a lighter as he began to choke on the fumes. Travis was able to persuade him to open the door so he could breathe. Then Andy said they needed to call the engine to the scene, so they could put him out immediately if he dropped the ladder. Emmett worried about spooking him, but Andy insisted and called for the engine to come with no lights or sirens. Harry became agitated when they arrived. He told Travis he and his wife had been married for 25 years until one day she woke up and told him it was over. She said it was a long time coming, but he didn't know that. While Maya and Sullivan waited with fire extinguishers, Travis got him to step out of the car, then shared his own relationship experience, being with someone and falling out of love without telling them. Unfortunately, Harry then lit the lighter and dropped it, setting himself on fire. Maya and Sullivan quickly put out the flames, then Andy gave him oxygen while they moved him onto a stretcher, into the aid car, and to the hospital.
