Tom came to Grey Sloan Memorial for a kidney transplant to be performed while he was awake. As a scrub nurse, Tom was aware of complications caused by surgical equipment being left inside patients and took care to press the surgical team to keep track of all their materials. Despite his constant questions and anxiety, the transplant was successful and Tom was stable afterward.
