Full Summary[]
6 Months Later
Andy teaches a community self-defense class to a group of women, including Carina. Nearby, Travis is cleaning the engine in dress clothes. Vic, Theo, and Ben enter the barn and Andy says it's time to practice choke holds.
Maya is working out in the gym when Sullivan comes in.
Travis continues cleaning. Beckett says if he has time to run for mayor, he has time to clean the truck. Travis whispers that he hates Beckett, but when asked, thanks Beckett in a louder voice for the time off.
Carina sees the time on Ben's watch and says it's time. She tells Andy it's time. Andy has Theo take over and follows Carina into the station.
Carina finds Maya in the gym and tells her it's time. Maya continues punching the punching bag. Andy tells Maya it's time. Maya finally stops. Once she and Carina have walked out, Andy tells Sullivan he can stop now because he's won. He says he always wins.
Carina lays out the supplies on the bathroom counter. She asks if Maya locked the door. Maya says yes, if by locked, she means Andy blocking it. Carina says this is the least-romantic setting, but Maya says when it's time it's time. Carina wonders if she should shower first, because she doesn't want to make a baby smelling like pig sweat. Maya says it's their fifth try and the sperm costs $700 per unit. Maya's on shift. It's not perfect timing, but it is what it is. When Carina doesn't respond, Maya pulls her toward a stall and starts undressing her, saying they'll both shower and do it right.
Andy waits outside, blocking the shower room door. She pulls out her phone and calls Jack. Jack answers from his truck and she asks when he's coming back. He tells her he's in Kansas City. He got his foster sister's last known address and he's on his way. As Jack hangs up, Ben and Sullivan come by and Andy jumps back in front of the door. Ben and Sullivan both need a shower, but Andy tells them they can't take one because the showers are occupied. She tells them to come back in ten minutes.
Vic and Theo give Travis tips as he prepares to leave. Travis is pretty sure the only stance the Northeast Seattle Homeowner's Association is going to care about is taxes. Vic and Travis bicker over how Travis should play things. Travis stops them when he starts to panic. Vic gives him a pep talk, telling him all the good things about him. Running as an independent is harder than he thought, because it means taking no stance on anything. Vic tells him to talk less and smile more and serenades him. Theo says he has it. Beckett says he looks like a car salesman. He also says Travis has two hours before he calls in a sub. Just then, the klaxons ring, sending the team out.
Andy bangs on the door and tells Maya they need to go. Maya comes out of the shower in just a towel, telling Carina she's sorry and she loves her. Carina says it's okay.
In the barn, Maya and Sullivan fight over who has seniority. Beckett tells Andy it's her. He tells Sullivan and Maya they can have a slap fight later. As they get ready to pull out, he spits his mint out onto the floor.
Carina lies on her back in the shower with her legs up in the air, talking to herself in Italian. Ben comes in and immediately turns around when he sees her. He asks if she's okay and she says she is. He didn't go out on the call because he's on desk duty and was going to take a shower. Carina says she just needs a few more minutes to let the sperm penetrate the egg. She knows it's embarrassing and unprofessional, but she's hoping he won't report Maya because Beckett already hates her for no good reason and if she gets another demotion, Carina doesn't think their marriage will survive. Ben says he's going to shower later and leaves.
Station 19 arrives on the scene to find Eduardo and Wes arguing over whose fault it was. Beckett approaches them and figures out there's a third driver still trapped in their car while they stand around and argue. He has Vic and Theo take Eduardo and Wes to be checked out while the rest of the team checks out the other driver. Andy gets to the car and checks on the driver, who says she was on her way to the doctor.
At the aid car, Eduardo and Wes sit and wait to be checked out. When it starts to rain, Theo and Vic usher them inside the aid car.
Andy puts a collar on the woman and asks her name. The woman just says they just got the car and Adam will be so mad. That's her husband. Andy asks her again what her name is and she says it's Hallie. Andy checks on Hallie, who says her hand hurts. She's not sure about the other hand. She's having a hard time thinking. Andy has her turn her car off, but before they can do anything else, Andy sees a tornado that has formed in the distance. Sullivan yells for everyone to take cover.
Travis mingles around the event. Nearby, Dixon promises Norton a seat on the school board. When the tornado warning goes off, Dixon believes it's a mistake. He tries to get everyone to calm down and enjoy the party, but Travis says to treat it like it's real and starts directing people to go inside.
At the accident scene, the firefighters direct people to go back inside their houses and find a valley where they can hunker down themselves. Andy tells Hallie to protect her head before she gets pulled away by Beckett. Hallie starts to panic and pulls off her collar. Theo has Eduardo and Wes follow him, but Wes decides to try to leave instead and gets thrown into a pole. Beckett orders them all to take cover, so Theo pulls Eduardo down with him.
The phone at the station is ringing off the hook. Ben tells a woman he doesn't know if it's real, but she should go to the basement and stay away from windows. As he talks, Carina comes down the stairs buttoning her shirt. She asks what's happening and he says it's a tornado warning. She's shocked that that's happening in Seattle. She reminds Ben that she might be pregnant and he ushers her into the barn.
Travis gets everyone inside and shuts the door. Kitty says if there's no basement, can they get another round of drinks? Travis tells everyone to get to the center of the room and get down. Dixon tells him to stop grandstanding, believing it to be a false alarm. He tries to get Kitty to leave with him, but she wants to see what'll happen.
Ben and Carina hear the wind outside and realize it's really a tornado. Ben prompts Carina to get down. Ben says he has a wife and three kids, including a three year old who already lost her dad. He's been following the rules and he's on desk duty most of the time so she doesn't lose another dad, but he might die anyway. Carina wonders why they bring children into such a terrifying world.
The firefighters stay down and cover their heads. Andy stands up to try to look for Hallie when he hears her yelling. She says they shouldn't have left her in the car.
Travis sees the tornado through the window and says it's headed this way. He tells everyone to stay down and does so himself.
As the wind starts to let up, Sullivan says he thinks that's it. They all start to get up and move around to check things out. Eduardo thinks he got hit by something and turns to reveal a piece of something impaled on his back.
At the house, they wait for the tornado to pass.
As Maya checks out Wes, she calls for more aid cars.
Andy and Beckett search for Hallie, whose car isn't where they left it. They look up, realizing the tornado took her.
Travis tells everyone to stay down as he gets up to check if the storm has passed. He steps outside and hears a voice calling. He follows the voice to a car, where Hallie is trapped.
Andy describes Hallie and her car to Ben over the phone and asks him to let her know if a call comes in about her. Maya leans out of the aid car to tell Sullivan that West was leaking brain matter, meaning at best, he'd be an organ donor. They close up to take him to the hospital. Beckett tells Theo that 88 is sending an aid car. Theo tells Eduardo they won't take the metal out, but they'll get him to the hospital and the doctors will take it out there. Eduardo says he ran the stop sign. The accident was his fault. Theo says the accident was his fault, but the tornado wasn't, so Hallie being swept away wasn't his fault. No one saw the tornado coming. Andy radios Dispatch again about Hallie and Ross says they found her on Hawkins Street and she's alive and stable.
Travis tells Hallie an ambulance is coming. She asks if he's going to get her out, but he can't without equipment. He'll stay with her until help arrives. Hallie wants to call Adam. She hopes he won't be mad about the car. Travis says all he'll care about is that she's okay. She starts to panic that the tornado will come back. Travis tells her to stay calm. Then he calls for someone to bring him tools. He asks her about Adam. She says they got married a year ago, in her parents' backyard. It was the best day of her life. She wants to call him. She starts to panic again and moves around. Norton brings Travis some tools and says Travis has his vote. Travis thanks him and sends him to get a table to keep Hallie's spine straight. Travis pries the door open. Dixon tells him he shouldn't try to move her until paramedics arrive, but Travis is a paramedic. They hear sirens approaching and Travis sends a waiter out to flag them down while he pulls Hallie out onto the table. Then he finds Hallie's phone. Dixon steps in and tells Hallie she's brave. Travis calls Adam from Hallie's phone and tells him she's okay, then hands the phone over to Hallie to talk to him. While she talks to Adam, Dixon tells Travis they're more alike than Travis thinks, because Travis rescued her for the cameras. Travis says it's his job, but Dixon says his job was to keep her calm until help arrived, not get her out himself.
Ben fields call after call at the station. Carina calls Maya and gets her voicemail. She leaves a message asking Maya to call her maybe-pregnant wife and tell her she's okay. Then she hangs up and tells Ben he's doing the right thing, staying safe for his family. Stu comes in with glass in his arm. He says it fell out of the sky. Carina and Ben lead him toward the barn.
Maya says at least he was an organ donor. She asks if he's seen a tornado before. He says not in Seattle, but he did when he was down south during basic training. It almost destroyed a town. She asks if that's where he met Ross. He asks what she's doing and she says she's just making conversation. She knows he's still mad, but it's been six months and he would have done the same thing. They're on the same team: anti-Beckett. Sullivan says he's not anti-Beckett. He reported Beckett for drinking on the job because he believed he was. Maya says she believed that he and Ross were sleeping together. Sullivan says that's not the same thing. Beckett was running the team into the ground and now he's sober. Maya says that makes him worse. Sullivan says that's because he's not doing it with a program. He's just white-knuckling it. He's given up the alcohol without treating the condition that made him want it. Maya is shocked that Sullivan has so empathy for Beckett and none for her. She's being punished for her ambition. Sullivan says blackmail isn't ambition. It's a crime. Reporting a suspicion is valid, but threatening to do that in exchange for a promotion. She's lucky she still has a job at all. She says it was an impulse. They get called to Elmhurst drive, so Maya turns on the lights and sirens as Sullivan radios to say they're on their way. Sullivan says Maya burned her own bridges and no one's punishing her but her.
Andy tells the others that Hallie landed nearby in one piece and she's okay. They approach the house they've been called to, where Theo says the neighbor reported a woman living there with her boyfriend. They all kind of think the house looks familiar. Suddenly, Eva Vasquez runs out, saying he's in the bedroom. When they ask who she means, she says it's Jack, confusing them. Eva says Jack's been in her bed for the last three months.
Inside, Jack is pinned on the bed under a fallen tree. Maya and Andy come in and are shocked to see it.
As Ben and Carina examine him, Stu says he was out for a walk when the tornado hit and then it took him a minute to realize he was bleeding. His wife always says he should take his cell phone when he goes walking, but that's the opposite of why he goes for walks. Carina's with him on that. She leaves to grab some supplies. Ben stops her and says they can't stitch him up at the station. It's not a hospital and it's not a clinic day. They need to call an aid car. Ben's trying to be good and follow the rules. Carina made no such promise. Ben says Beckett's been on everyone, but Carina's not afraid of angry men. She was raised by one. Ben says it's about more than that. It's medical licenses and liability. She ignores him and takes the supplies over to Stu to get started.
Maya says they could lift the tree off with the ladder. Jack says they'd have to cut a bigger hole. He's upset that they're the ones who responded, but Maya reminds him he chose to hide out four blocks from the station. Jack says he's not hiding. Vic and Sullivan join them. Andy says cutting will take too long. The four of them could lift the tree and he could pull his arm free faster. Jack says they have time and he wants them to cut the tree. When Andy pushes, he says he can't pull his arm free because it's handcuffed.
Theo checks Eva out in the aid car, even though she tells him she was in the kitchen when it happened. Andy radios out to tell them they need to get the keys from Eva. Eva hears this and says she forgot he was still cuffed. She walks back inside.
Carina pulls the glass out of Stu's arm. It's deeper than she thought. He hasn't had much feeling in that arm since Vietnam. He was discharged after taking some shrapnel. As Carina goes to clear the blood, Stu starts bleeding much more heavily. She applies pressure as Ben comes out to help. Ben applies a tourniquet and as he puts on gloves to help stitch the vessel, Carina assures Stu he's okay. Stu starts to feel woozy as Ben stops the bleeding.
As Vic, Sullivan, and Maya work to cut away the tree, Andy talks to Jack about why he's been lying to them. She tells him he still has a family there who loves him. He starts laughing, because he thought he couldn't get lower. Finally, they pull the tree off. And releases the cuff and offers to clean his arm up for him. He refuses, so Andy leaves. On the way out, Sullivan tells Eva to take Jack to the hospital because his wrist isn't okay. Maya tries to talk to Jack, but he cuts her off and says he doesn't have any more sperm for her. She wishes him good luck and leaves. Vic tells him he won't feel like this forever unless he lets him kill him. She tells him not to do that.
In the beanery, Carina and Ben argue about Stu. Ben says he could have bled out and Carina would have lost her medical license. He realizes he sounds like his wife and says he owes a lot of people apologies, because now he knows how this feels. Travis asks what Carina did and Ben says she did surgery in the barn. Ben hates the feeling. Carina is glad he learned something. Ben says the hormones make her so much meaner than she normally is. Carina knows that, but it's not just the hormones. She's 38, which is considered geriatric for pregnancy. This is their fifth try. She's always wanted to give birth and now she might not get to and that makes her a little meaner, too. She wants them to change the subject, so they talk about the car falling out of the sky. Carina asks if Travis has heard from Maya and Travis says she's fine and they're on their way back. And they found Jack. Carina says Jack is dead to her.
As they arrive back at the station, Beckett assigns Maya to engine clean-up. She was on that last week, but he says grunt work suits her. He tells her to make sure to get the pile of mint off the floor. Carina watches from nearby, half-hidden behind the truck. Once Maya is gone, Carina confronts Beckett, telling him he has no right to be so awful to Maya. Beckett says that Maya tried to use blackmail to get him fired, which is news to Carina and the reason why he's punishing her.
On the roof, Carina helps Maya clean up detritus from the storm as they fight. Carina is upset that Maya blackmailed her boss. Maya wants Carina to be on her side. Everyone else has been giving her crap for six months. Carina says for six months, Maya has kept this from her, coming home miserable and not telling Carina why, denying that anything is wrong when Carina asks. And Maya's not even the one who finally told Carina the truth, but Maya needs Carina to be on her side. It's emotional blackmail, kind of like what she did to Ross. Maya says she was trying to get her job back, for them, for their family. Carina doesn't believe that, saying it was just for Maya. Maya says she wants her job back. It's not a crime, but blackmail is. And it's not about the job. It's the chaos. Maya doesn't know how to live a normal life. The ups and down remind Carina of her childhood. Maya says Carina's been full of hormones and she's been patient. Carina says that's true, it's been making her feel everything more, but there's no hormones to blame for what Maya did. They were happy. Carina had just gotten her green card and they're trying to have a baby and then Maya had to create chaos. Maya needs to look into that. She needs to get help because Carina can't raise a baby with chaos. If they're going to have a baby together, Maya needs to get help. Maya reminds her that she could be pregnant right now. Carina says she could be, which is why Maya needs to get help. For them. Right now. Carina leaves the room and Maya shoves a tray in anger.
Sullivan is refreshed after a shower. Andy's trying to be grateful that they survived the tornado, but she's worried for Jack. Sullivan reminds her she can't fix Jack. All she can do is be there if he asks for help. Andy says her dad would see what happened with Hallie as a sign. Her dad has been on her mind lately and he would say Jack was family and they needed to help him before he even asked. When she was in a bad way, people helped her, including Jack. Now it's time for her to return the favor, whether Jack likes it or not. Andy gets a notification on her phone and shows what came up to Sullivan.
Theo and Vic are watching a cooking show in the day room when Andy comes in and tells them to put on the news and calls everyone into the room. They watch footage of Travis saving Hallie on the news. Vic says he's a hero. Ross comes in. She tells Travis he gave the station a lot of good press, which they needed. That'll give him pull with the union. She also heard they had to rescue Jack. She's glad he's okay physically and says they'll get him the mental help he needs when he's ready to come back. The others tease Travis as Sullivan follows Ross out quietly.
Sullivan stops Ross on the steps, saying he's having trouble writing up the report on the tornado. She says it was wild just to listen to it. She also tells him she'll be rotating through the stations and asks if that'll be a problem for him. He says it won't. The problem is that he's still working with Maya. He asks if they can at least be friends. Andy overhears from the stop of the steps as Ross tells him they can't. As Andy comes down the stairs, the team gets called back out to a tour bus crash. Beckett tells Ben he's on the desk as they all get dressed to go.

Car Accident[]
Station 19 was called out to Holmsby Avenue for a car accident. They arrived to find Eduardo and Wes fighting over whose fault the accident was. They both said they were, but Beckett had them checked out while the rest of the team focused on Hallie, who was also in the accident and was trapped in her car. As they worked, it started to rain, forcing Wes and Eduardo into the aid car to be checked. Maya put a collar on Hallie and Andy checked her pupils. Hallie said her right hand was hurting, which Sullivan believed was air bag burn. She said she wasn't sure if her other hand was hurting. Before they could get her out, a tornado formed nearby and swept through the scene. They were force to abandon her to direct people back inside their homes and then shelter themselves, along with Eduardo and Wes. Wes tried to leave the scene and was blown into a pole. After the tornado passed, they checked on Eduardo, who had been impaled by some metal, and Wes, who had serious trauma to his body. Maya called for more aid cars. They went back to the crash site only to find Hallie's car was gone. As they loaded Wes into an aid car, Maya noted that he was leaking brain matter. Eduardo was told he'd be transported to the hospital and they'd remove the metal there.
Hallie ended up at a nearby house where Travis was attending a political event, still trapped in her car. Travis talked to her to keep her calm and called for tools. He pried the door open and moved Hallie out onto a table as someone else flagged down the aid car to take her to the hospital.
Jack Gibson[]
Station 19 got called out to Elmhurst Drive. When they arrived, Eva came out and said Jack was in the bedroom and trapped. They went into the bedroom to find him in the bed with his arm pinned under a fallen tree. They wanted to lift the tree off him, but he insisted they cut it instead. He said he couldn't pull out his hand when they lifted it because it was handcuffed to the bed, so they were forced to cut it. Once the tree was gone, Andy unlocked the handcuff and offered to clean up his wrist for him. He declined, saying he could get himself to the doctor. Sullivan told Eva to take him to the hospital.
Stu[]
Stu came into the station after being cut on some glass during the tornado. Ben wanted to call an aid car, but Carina said it would only take four or five stitches and decided to do it at the station over Ben's objections. When she removed the glass, she was surprised by how deep it was and Stu started bleeding heavily. She applied pressure and Ben applied a tourniquet. Carina then injected lidocaine and Ben stitched the vessel. Stu started feeling woozy as they worked and Ben assured him they'd be quick.
Tour Bus[]
Station 19 was called out to Turner Pass for a tour bus that had gone over a cliff.
