Wanda Gallagher is a patient who sustained blunt trauma to her neck while being arrested.
History[]
Wanda worked for an oil company until she decided she no longer believed they cared about people at all. So she quit and dedicated her life to protesting instead. After being arrested for vandalism, which she says was just a misunderstanding, she promised her daughter, Lacey, she was done with it. However, the next year, she was injured while resisting arrest at another protest.
While waiting for a CT, Wanda got spooked when she heard there were cops looking to speak to her and decided to climb into the ceiling to get away. This led to her getting trapped behind a wall. She called out for help, but then started to struggle to breathe to the hematoma in her neck expanding. She lost consciousness as they started to break through the wall. They were able to get her out and had to open her neck to decompress the hematoma before they could intubate her. Then she was rushed into surgery for a wound exploration.
Wanda was stable in the ICU after surgery and expected to make a full recovery. When she woke up, Lacey said that she had almost gotten herself killed again. Wanda tried to avoid talking about it, which Lacey said was typical of her. Lacey said that she fought for the climate, but couldn't talk to her own daughter. She was trying to make up for what she'd done in the past, but didn't include making things right with Lacey in that. Lacey wanted a relationship with Wanda the way Wanda wants one with Lacey's child. After finishing, Lacey left.
