Full Summary[]
Andy runs through the street.
Vic, Ben, and Jack commiserate about being forced to run sprints. Jack wonders if Sullivan accused Beckett as a power play. Ben doesn't want to believe that. His pee test was clean, but that only means he wasn't drinking today. Jack gets a text from Maya saying she needs to talk to him outside ASAP, so he gets up to do that.
At the bar, Maddox is playing pool when Travis comes in and tells Theo he needs to drink. Theo says the breakup was a long time coming.
Andy continues running.
Outside by a car, Jack finds Maya and Carina waiting for him. He asks if they're blackmailing someone. Maya says no, they wanted to meet him on the roof, but Beckett's up there. He asks if they're staging a coup. Carina says she wanted to after hearing about the sprints, which reminded Maya too much of her childhood to unpack right now, but that's not why they wanted to talk to him. Maya struggles to ask him, so Carina steps in and says they would like to take him up on his offer to be their sperm donor. Jack is shocked. Before he can answer, Andy runs up to them, out of breath.
Inside the station, Andy tells the others that she didn't really know the guy, but Maddox knows him. She doesn't think she's injured. Sullivan tries to examine her, but Carina stops him, saying Andy's body is evidence. Andy says she hit him, she fought him off. Ben asks if she hit her head. Suddenly, Andy tells them they need to take the aid car and find him, because she hurt him. Maya, Vic, and Sullivan rush out as she tells them where to go. As they go, Carina asks Andy if it's okay with her if Carina calls the police to report the assault. As the aid car pulls out, Andy watches out the window and imagines that she's seeing a younger version of herself standing there. When she snaps back to attention, Andy says it's okay to call the police.
Andy comes home from school. Elena tells her there's food in the fridge. She notices that Andy has a scratch on her knee and asks if it was that Thompson kid again. Andy says he tripped her. Johnny says he has a crush on her, but Elena snaps at him not to say that. She asks Andy if she's okay and leads her away to get her cleaned up.
Maya, Vic, and Sullivan arrive in the parking lot at Joe's. They don't see Jeremy, so they call out for him and search the lot. They think he might have run away. Sullivan spots a trail of blood and they follow it to where Jeremy is lying beside a car. Maya checks on him, but can't rouse him. They don't have room to treat him there, so they need to move him. They roll him onto his back, put a c-collar on him, and drag him out from beside the car. They examine him and Vic reminds them that he attacked Andy. Maya says they can deal with that later, but right now, they're paramedics and they need to treat him. Vic tries to intubate, but there's bleeding in his throat, forcing Maya to do a cricothyrotomy. Sullivan says Andy's going to need a lawyer.
Once Maya gets the tube in, his ventilation improves. They're preparing to get him on a backboard when Beckett approaches and asks if they called for backup. Vic says they didn't need it because they can handle it, but Beckett doesn't think they should be treating him given what happened. They tell him that Jeremy needs to be moved to the hospital as soon as possible. Beckett goes to call in backup. Jeremy flatlines and Beckett says they should have called it in. Sullivan starts compressions.
Officer Williams asks Andy if she knew the guy. Andy says his name was Jeremy, but she didn't get his last name. They just met tonight. He's a friend of her lieutenant, John Maddox. Officer Roscoe says they'll need his contact information and the names and numbers of everyone else present. Andy says everyone left early except Jeremy. They stayed at the bar and kept drinking. Andy says she'd taken her team out because their station just closed. Roscoe asks if she's inebriated, but she says the attack sobered her up. Williams asks if she was carrying and weapons. She tells them no. There was a struggle, she hit him, and that was it. Roscoe asks where she hit him. She says she thinks she hit him in the throat and bit his hand. Williams asks if she did that because she thought he was going to assault her. Andy says he did assault her, and she thought he was going to rape her. Then she came to the station and sent her friends to tend to Jeremy, but she can't remember how she got to the station. Williams asks why her memories seem hazy. Andy asks if she's allowed to have an advocate. They say yes, which means they should have offered her one from the start. Andy wants Ben Warren with her.
Elena bandages Andy's knee and tells her that was Johnny said isn't true. It's just something people say to make excuses for boys, but it's not okay. If it happens again, Elena wants Andy to hit him back. Sandra is shocked, but Elena is serious. She tells Andy that Uncle Snuffy is an MMA champion. No one messes with him. She once saw him knock a guy out with a single punch.
Andy, now with Ben beside her, says that's everything she remembers. Williams notes that some of the details are still blurry, but if that's all, they're ready to go. Ben says she has the option to have evidence collected from her body. Even though she wasn't raped, there is still physical evidence on her body that can be collected. He pulls Andy aside and says it's her choice, but probably the best thing she can do right now is put herself in a good position to be believed. She asks if it'll mean going to the hospital, but he says he can have a kit sent over and Carina can do it. The most important thing is to make sure she's healthy and unharmed and that's the number one goal of the exam. But it also increases the odds of holding perpetrators accountable. Andy agrees to do it, but at the station. Ben tells the officers they'll have to wait to collect the kit. He's upset that he had to be the one to tell them this.
Jeremy is still flatlining. Maya says they need to move him, but Beckett wants to wait for 88, who are two minutes away. Sullivan says they don't have time to wait. Beckett is convinced he's dead. Suddenly, they get a pulse back. They load him onto a gurney and while Beckett is distracted, they load him into the aid car and start driving him to the hospital.
Vic says his pulse is barely there and Sullivan questions how long it takes to go around the block. Maya pulls them into the ambulance bay and they unload him. As Teddy wheels him inside, Sullivan tells her she has to keep him alive because he attacked their friend. Teddy tells them to wait in the ambulance bay and she'll update them.
As Jack and Carina prepare the bathroom for Andy's exam, Jack says he's not avoiding the question. Carina says it's okay. Now is not the time. Jack asks if she's okay. She says she's fine. Jack is impressed that Andy fought Jeremy off. Carina knocks over some equipment. Jack's worried he upset her. Carina says she's upset for Andy and trying not to be angry, but she also feels electric. Andy fought him off. There's a teenage version of Carina that wants to scream and cry and dance with Andy. She did what so many of them couldn't do, including Carina herself. She stopped him. Jack realizes what Carina's saying. Carina feels that the teenage version of herself is feeling all kinds of things. It's a lot for her to handle right now, but she thanks Jack because talking about it really helps. Jack says there's a teenage version of himself that knows what she's talking about, who froze instead of fighting. He wants to give Andy a prize for doing what she did. Taryn comes in with the kit and Jack leaves to give them privacy. He and Carina check in with each other before he goes, passing Andy on his way out. As Andy sits down, Carina introduces Taryn and Taryn asks for Andy's consent to do the exam. When Andy says that's not necessary, Carina says that control was taken from her and they want to give it back to her. Carina explains that with every step, they'll ask for her consent, she can refuse any part of it, and she can ask them to stop at any time. Andy signs the consent and they get started by collecting Andy's clothing. As they work, Andy flashes back to the attack.
Elena wraps Andy's hands.
Carina seals an evidence back with Andy's clothes inside.
Snuffy comes in to start Andy's first self-defense lesson.
Carina asks for Andy's permission and she gives it for every section.
Elena watches as Andy learns to punch the dummy.
Carina says she'll comb Andy's hair to collect samples. Andy freezes and Carina asks if she wants to stop. Andy says no, she consents.
Travis tells Theo that the dinner was a disaster. Travis admits that he stirred up some drama on his own. Maddox interrupts and Travis gives his condolences. Maddox says he can thank Andy for it and Theo tells him that Andy spoke to Ross. After Maddox leaves, Theo says he doesn't blame her, but he wishes she'd given him a head's up. Travis reminds him that she was the captain and the captain can't talk to their friends about everything. Theo realizes he's right.
Taryn says one blood sample will go with her to the hospital for testing and the other will go in the kit to go with the police. Andy thanks Taryn and Taryn leaves. Andy feels like a body is a crime scene, which Carina knows isn't a good feeling. She's glad they got the data though. Andy knows it's easy to accuse a woman of lying, but not at least to accuse DNA. Andy keeps replaying it. They were flirting. She kissed him. Carina tells her she can change her mind at any point. Consent is an ongoing negotiation and you can change it anytime you like, even after you're naked. It's not locked in. Andy says she really liked him. They were having fun. She could have dated him. And then he changed. And now she's hoping she really hurt him. Carina hopes that as well. Carina asks if there's anything she can do for Andy as a friend or as a doctor. Andy asks if she can shower and Carina says she can. Andy thanks her and leaves.
Elena argues with Pruitt over the phone, while Andy watches, hidden behind a wall. Elena wants Andy to be able to defend herself. She says Pruitt knows what happened to her. She wishes someone had taught her this kind of thing. She's mad because Pruitt accuses of her of not being there for Andy, but then shuts her down. Pruitt hangs up over Elena's objections. Elena slams the phone down. Andy picks it up and hangs it back on the wall.
Sullivan is angry because they've been waiting for over an hour. Maya says maybe they took him into surgery. They did everything they could and it's out of their hands. Sullivan says it won't look good for Andy and Vic agrees. Teddy comes out and tells them it was a valiant effort, but Jeremy died.
Theo and Travis play pool and do another shot. Theo toasts to the end of 23 and Emmis, which is what he and Vic used to call Travis and Emmett. Travis says he and Emmett used to call Theo and Vic Thicc. Theo takes a call from Vic and immediately gets serious.
Detectives Berarducci and Chen enter the station. They introduce themselves and tell Beckett they're looking for Andy. Beckett says some cops already spoke to Andy, but they're not there from SVU. They're homicide detectives. Maya, Vic, and Sullivan return just then and Sullivan asks if anyone's told Andy. When they say no, Sullivan goes upstairs.
Sullivan goes into the day room and tells Andy that Jeremy died. He also gives her the number of a lawyer and tells her not to talk to the cops. The detectives come in and draw the blinds.
Andy has to give her statement of events again. She says she ran to the station after hitting Jeremy. Berarducci says that her last statement said she didn't remember how she got to the station, but now she remembers running. Chen says that the paramedics who responded are her friends and ex-husband and knew that Jeremy had assaulted her. Andy confirms that that's true, but says they would never change the care they provided based on that. Andy reminds them that she doesn't have to talk to them and she was actually advised not to, but she's trying to help however she can. Their teams have worked together many times. Chen reminds her that her own report states that she saw that Jeremy was in distress. Still, she ran. Berarducci asks why she didn't call from the parking lot. Andy says she was scared because she'd just been attacked. Chen asks if she was still scared after Jeremy was on the ground. They suggest she should have treated Jeremy when she realized he was injured. Andy says she wasn't a paramedic in that moment. She was a woman who had just been attacked. She defended herself and ran. She asks if she's allowed to have an advocate with her. Berarducci says no and she realizes it's because she's a suspect now, not a victim. Andy relives the attack and tells them she's not a criminal. She was attacked. She won't be speaking to them anymore. She gives them the number for her lawyer and says to contact them if they need more from her. Berarducci tries to stop her, but she leaves. Beckett overhears this and tells the detectives to get out of his station. Bererducci says they still need to speak to Maya, Vic, Sullivan, and Beckett himself, but he tells them if they need to speak with any of his paramedics, they can put in an official request through the department. Until then, they need to leave.
Vic gives Andy a toothbrush and toothpaste. She thanks them for letting her stay. Ben gives her tea. Just the, Travis and Theo come in, drunk and asking Andy if she's okay. They both think they could have helped if they were there and mime punching. Their act makes Andy laugh. She laughs until it dissolves into crying. Everyone gets quiet as Andy cries. Andy enters the bunk they've prepared for her and climbs into bed. Jack asks Ben if Andy's okay. And Ben says no. Jack enters the bunk and climbs into bed behind Andy to hold her. Maya and Carina put a mattress on the floor next to the bed. Carina covers up Maya before lying down. Vic makes a bed at the foot of Andy's bed. Travis, Ben, and Theo sit in the doorway. Andy lies awake, crying and re-living the attack.
Sullivan brings Andy coffee. She tells him not to ask if she's okay and he says he wouldn't dare. Andy tells him about her mother insisting on self-defense classes. Snuffy taught her every day after school until she graduated high school. Sullivan wonders what would have happened if she didn't have that muscle memory.
Andy hugs Elena as Elena does dishes and cries. Elena tells her life isn't fair and Andy should know that by now. She makes Andy promise to keep learning from Snuffy and become really strong.
Andy thinks maybe her mom was assaulted. She taught Andy to hit back because she couldn't. Sullivan asks if she'd do it differently if she could. Andy says no. Sullivan says that's good because Jeremy's the bad guy, not her. He hugs Andy.
Jack comes in while Maya and Carina are brushing their teeth and says he did offer, but now it's real and his childhood was hard and lonely. He's not sure he can compartmentalize like the articles say he should. He would want to be involved. Maya says they don't want him to do that. They're okay with him being involved, as Uncle Jack. Their child will know he's their donor. Jack says he could teach the kid to roll hoses. Carina says when they're a teenager, but Maya says when they're five or six. Carina asks if he's saying yes. When he says he is, they all hug.
Sullivan goes to the roof and tells Beckett last night was his call, so Beckett can write him up. Beckett says it's bigger than that, because Sullivan challenged his integrity in front of his team and defied his orders. Sullivan is fracturing the team and putting others at risk. Sullivan thinks it's just about the two of them. Beckett says he can't be a pissing contest if one has the power to transfer the other. Sullivan says to transfer him, but Beckett says it won't look good in the lawsuit. He could sue Sullivan for any number of things. He could cause a real stir around Sullivan's promotion, which won't look good for Ross. Sullivan reminds Beckett that he was a scout sniper for the Marines. He's patient and he knows how to read people. He doesn't lose. Beckett might want to consider that before he makes his next move.
Travis says he needs a pot of coffee. Vic asks how much they drank. It was a lot. Theo can't stop thinking about what might have been different if he had stayed. Ben says he can't play that game. Vic says Andy handled herself. Now she just need her friends and some pancakes. They run into Maya and Carina, who are smiling. Vic asks why, but Carina shakes her head, so Maya just says they're just excited for diner food. They debate over which diner to go to. Andy comes downstairs and asks where they're going. They're still deciding. Vic then sees Berarducci and Chen coming in and asks why they're there. Berarducci says they have a warrant for Andy's arrest. They're not going to cuff her, but she has to come downtown. The others try to defend her, but Andy says she'll go. Berarducci reads her her rights as they exit the station.

Andy Herrera[]
After being assaulted, Andy ran to station 19. She sent Maya, Vic, and Sullivan to find Jeremy and Carina called the police to report the assault. Andy spoke to two cops and told them what had happened. They asked if she'd been drinking and she said she had, but the attack sobered her up. She struggled to remember the details of the assault, but said she thought she hit him in the throat and bit his hand. Andy asked if she was allowed to have an advocate with her. When they said yes, she said they should have told her that at the start and asked to have Ben with her. Andy told them everything she remembered and they went to leave. Ben said they weren't finished, as Andy had the option to have evidence collected from her body and they needed to wait for that evidence. He consulted privately with Andy and she chose to have the evidence collected. He said he could have Grey Sloan send the kit over and Carina could do it at the station. It gave her the best shot of holding Jeremy accountable. She agreed to it, so Ben told them they had to wait for it. Carina prepared the bathroom for the exam and Taryn brought the kit over. As they did the kit, they asked Andy for her consent at each step, giving her the power to stop it at any time. Once the kit was complete, Andy was allowed to shower.
Jeremy Benanti[]
Maya, Vic, and Sullivan found Jeremy in the parking lot at Joe's, on the ground next to a car. His pupils didn't react, so they flipped him over, put him in a c-collar, then dragged him out to where they had more space. They attempted intubation, but there was too much blood, so Maya did a cricothyrotomy to get an airway. Beckett arrived and said they shouldn't be treating him and went to call backup. He flatlined, so they started compressions. When they mentioned needing to move him, Beckett said to wait for 88, which was two minutes away. They detected a pulse and defied Beckett's orders to stay there and loaded him onto a gurney and into the aid car. At the hospital, they handed him off in the ER. Teddy later informed them that despite their best efforts, Jeremy had died.
