Zaza Delgado is a boy who was burned in a house fire after helping a neighbor's grandmother back into bed.
History[]
Zaza was helping his neighbor's abuelita back to bed when their house caught on fire. Zaza likely got lost in the smoke and ended up in a closet, where he had burns over 30% of his body. When the firefighters found him, he was unconscious. They took him outside and gave him fluids. There was a shortage of aid cars in the city, meaning it would be eight minutes before one was available to transport him. His mother offered to drive him in her car, but Maya told her it wasn't safe as he needed fluids during transport. Maya then decided to transport him in the engine, defying Fire Chief McCallister's direct order.
